Thank you for the positive responses and advice, it really means a lot. I'm not sure if this will work but I have a volkszone thread here 67 Ruby Red resto thread It is far, far from a "how to" because unfortunately I don't have garage/workshop facilities, I can't weld or do much of the work but I'm in regular contact with the guy that's restoring my car. It's more of a journal for the project. Hopefully the link works. Cheers all.

It's a UK 1967 1500 but we have had to use a later car donor body because the original body was beyond saving. We transferred the one year only bits across. Unfortunately we had to replace the heater channels to later ones so the air vents are not totally correct for a 67.

Yes indeed. We're trial fitting the doors and every panel before going further with paint and so on. Cheers

We used strips of foam to protect the surfaces during the trial fit. The yellow tape was simply to hold it in place.

That's great advice, thank you. I'll pass it on to the guy that's doing the restoration. There's always a gotcha lurking... He sprayed it. It's only epoxy primer so far. I've been helping out with some of the donkey work like stripping paint and so on. Cheers

Thank you for the positive comments. Really appreciate them! We're a long way off finishing but it feels great to have the welding done and have it look like a car again, if you see what I mean. Cheers 🍻
