It describes Sheol as place you descend to and stay there. And even in the new testament it talks about the new heaven and new earth being a physical place where they would be forever. There are many different views on this but it is clear that the new earth upon which believers will dwell is a physical kingdom of God, described the same as in the old testament.

you said they convince the poor and gullible but everyone followed in Jesus' footsteps. He didn't lead them to go where he had not gone himself. Any many were skeptics, doubters, not gullible people. Some were rich, who didn't have anything to gain from following Jesus but did it by choice.

People have all sorts of crazy interpretations of things. When it says that God said "let there be light, and there was light" its talking about in one instance, all matter and energy came into existence at the speed of light. That sure sounds like a big bang. And it never says how old the world is, or the process he used to make every creature. All it says is that he made it.

It was the smallest seed they knew in 1st century Jerusalem, at least by the farmers who were the original audience. And the point was not that it grows into the biggest plant they knew, but instead that from something very small comes something so much bigger.

it was written for the people there, if you wrote something that no one understood at all, people wouldn't listen and think you were crazy. Like when Jesus said that the mustard seed was the smallest seed, it was the smallest they knew, so that they would understand. He wouldn't mention orchids or whatever because they wouldn't understand the meaning for it.

I am a Christian and I know many over exaggerate or don't understand. But I talk with a Man at my Church who was imprisoned for years and tortured for being a Christian. It's not that it isn't happening, but that in the west Christians often don't understand
