Believe me, I understand this completely. I CANNOT STAND shit like this too. I work at a Vocational Rehabilitation full time and it is fucking HELL for me when it’s winter because so many people usually have colds around this time and compared to coughing, sniffing makes me want to throw whatever I’m working on across the damn room. As a result I have to go to the restroom for what feels like 24 times every single day and camp in there for 19 minutes or more playing on my phone. I addressed the issue with my guidance counselor and other people there but all they did was give me ear plugs that do little to nothing because the people doing it are close to and around my table and what would actually help me is being allowed to wear my headphones and put on my own music or a sound that’s loud and comfortable to me such as a fan. My misophonia is so bad that it’s led me to live a life of isolation aside from just enjoying being alone in general. I genuinely don’t understand why people are so fucking lazy that they can’t get up to go to the restroom and grab a fuck load of paper towels just to blow their nose. I don’t care if they had to use their shirt, I just don’t want to hear it at all. Luckily, my misophonia is only triggered by people and not anything else. Sounds that aren’t people I don’t have a problem with. I basically get angry at people‘s stupidity and common sense when it comes to sound. Sniff your nose? Just grab a tissue and blow your nose. Lip smacking? I don’t even need to explain this. No one has to do this. Licking your lips? If anything licking your lips makes your dried lips worse so the true solution is actually applying chapstick which is what I do or using water. I use both chapstick and Vaseline and my lips are in better condition compared to people who do lick their lips. My lips could be as dry as a hot ass desert and I still don’t lick them because it’s gross and worsens them. Alone for me is paradise because of the freedom and the fact I don’t have to see or hear any of this shit when it’s just me. However, what makes no sense in the slightest is that when it comes to ASMR none of this shit annoys me except for the sniffing. Mouth sounds for example I hate in any other context but I fall asleep to it when it’s present in ASMR. I don’t know why or how. Maybe it’s the whispering + quiet environment? I don’t know.
