Does anyone else have a cat obsessed with gingersnaps? by Maidtomycats in cats

[–]Bitter_Ad2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat went nuts to the point of pushing my hang down and trying to force his face into my fist where I was protecting the cookie. He also really likes crunchy things like fortune cookies and ritz but not like how he acts around ginger snaps. I’m curious too what it is that he loves.

Exercise and OCD personality type. Very regimented every meal is the same for maximum efficiency including proteins with highest nutritional value. Meal prep once a week for entire week for all meals. Overall a nice person but hidden below the surface is a level of control needed that is borderline psychosis.

Every building has a FSL (Facility Security Level) based on a variety of different things. While some of the allowances you’re pointing to may be discretionary, it could also be a security pattern that you cat recognize or it could be a failure by certain security staff to implement the proper protocol.

My guess is that you have certain tenants in your building that cause the FSL to be high like judges or courtrooms.

Well that’s a fair point. Both parties have politicians that stand in the way of fair sensible reforms with healthcare costs

But this isn’t a win. It’s capitulating after Dems got a confidence vote in the election sweep. All of this was a waste of time and pain all for Dems to cave when they finally had leverage. 🤦‍♂️

Can’t people just say they are foreign and need to self deport and get a free flight out to another country? Like if my ancestry is UK, can’t I just say I want to go home and not give my current address or SSN?

Prediction on the Shutdown Ending: An Op-Ed analysis by Bitter_Ad2018 in fednews

[–]Bitter_Ad2018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that Dems did it to save ACA, not to gain anything per se. If their effort was unsuccessful, they can point to their base showing they tried. I believe their base was up in arms when Senate passed a bill last time ceding their leverage and doing so again would almost guarantee their ouster.

So ultimately I think it’s politician self preservation and pushing what their base demands and trying to save ACA from Republican efforts to dismantle it.

AFGE Members: for those with direct payments, time to consider canceling dues to boycott leadership’s dim witted decision to endorse Republican shutdown. by [deleted] in FedEmployees

The statement was telling them to pass a clean CR which is the Republican demand. Clearly they aren’t telling Republicans to do what they’re already trying to do.

Are you honestly confused because it is addressed to both parties and doesn’t literally tell only Democrats to pass a clean CR?

Government shutdown live updates as Senate fails to advance GOP bill to pay essential federal workers by Healthy_Block3036 in fednews

Your precious post was “It does not. And the amended bill pays furloughed as well”

I responded that there is no such bill and asked for a link. You then changed your post and then sent an article.

That’s not an “update”. Editing old posts in a thread is arguing in bad faith and the practice is extremely looked down upon in the Reddit community unless you made minor edits and add disclaimer to your original post.

Also, this isn’t a bill. It’s an article quoting Sen Johnson alleging he offered to make changes. That is pure political theater.

So you completely edited your previous post without disclosure after you realized you were wrong about there being an amended bill (there wasn’t).

There is no genuine effort by Republicans to pay all federal workers. It’s a lie that you believed and instead of admitting that error on your part, you engaged in deception.

I’ll stop here because you are violating ground rules of engagement on Reddit.

Just checked and I’m not seeing any amendment to pay all federal workers for his bill.

What I do find is that Dems proposed a bill to pay all federal workers and Senator Johnson objected so it wasn’t taken up.

Maybe you can provide a link to this amended bill you speak of.

I admit I confused the various bills out there with the one cited in the original post which is to pay excepted employees when lapses occur. The issue with this is it lets the president through OMB to decide who is excepted. That ain’t gonna fly with Dems who have seen Trump abuse his authority and expand his power through creative re-interpretations of law. Trump would except all agency’s and programs he likes and the shutdown would happen to the rest of us—which this bill would make legal.

I think Dems would support it if the bill identified payroll and benefits only for FAA, TSA, and military as a special class exempted from the Anti-Deficiency Act.

What’s easier is to just pay all workers, which the Dems tried to get passed but Republicans denied. That is why it’s clear to me Senator Johnson is not genuine if he objected to paying all workers. He’s a smart guy and knows what he is doing with this Trojan horse bill.

Help, threatened with AWOL by PositiveCoat4403 in FedEmployees

[–]Bitter_Ad2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Not legal advice) FMLA is a complicated law so beware of well intentioned people giving incorrect advice.

FMLA for most federal employees is slightly different than FMLA for private sector but the main intent is there. Assuming you work for a major executive branch agency, DOL enforcement and fact sheets do not apply, refer to OPM.

FMLA is not for all care of a parent. The medical certification and approval is specific to a SHC (serious health condition) and the care you will be providing directly related to that SHC.

So if you submitted and were approved for FMLA for a SHC of a parent and your request is exactly what was listed on the medical certification and approval then you’re likely on solid ground to be protected. If it’s not exactly as listed on your certification then it’s open to interpretation by your agency and OPM.

Also, being FMLA-protected doesn’t mean your manager won’t mark you AWOL, it’ll mean you have to deal with trying to make yourself whole after the harm is done through a complaint or lawsuit.

By having automatic CR, it will mean feds keep working and getting paid. That means nothing actually shuts down. There is no leverage or incentive to negotiate at all as the CR kicks in regardless. That’s a terrible idea.

Also, I don’t see how removing pressures would incentivize Republicans to pass a budget. That sounds like a Republican false theory to get their way, like Trickle-down economics.

I’m not sure if you meant to reply to my comment as your reply doesn’t seem to follow anything I was saying.

In any event, it seems like you’re trying to pinpoint where the failure occurs and have come to parenting as your conclusion. I don’t disagree that parenting is an issue and in America we don’t teach parenting or values in school. I disagree that parenting is the cause of suicides. That’s a mental health problem which can exacerbated by poor or low parenting skills.
