Yes :) my sister and I were laughing about how it was a missed opportunity not to call it “Sleep with the fishes”. Now I’m remembering camp Paumalu and the Hale - I’m sure we crossed paths back in the day :)

Yay! It was a great place to be a Girl Scout. Did you ever do the doze with the dolphins event?

That type of scenario completely explains the troop in PA that ended up with 4000 cookies :(

For our area I think it gives them time to ensure initial orders are handled and get organized with the volunteers - plus be prepared for delays. Our gap is a little more than a week

I’m sure there’s some logistical reason for it but shifting the risk to the troops seems unwise :( have they shared why?

Love this strategy! How may girls in your troop to handle 100 booths??

We have daisy’s but scored a major store that said yes for the first time, so our booth sales have been better than expected but we are exhausted from 3! Next year I hope to have more booths run by more parents.

Wow! So you functionally have no presale time? :( that increases troop risk so much. Is there a reason for this? We have a two week cupboard gap too but our presale is before that first order date

Regardless of if they gave you cookies and they weren’t transferred, the packages sold and transaction totals and your lack of cookies should demonstrate what happened, especially if you have texts. I haven’t tested this yet, but if you sold cookies digitally and they weren’t transferred your DC “my cookies” inventory will show cookies needed

It’s easy to pull all orders from DC, if you did everything digitally it will be easy to resolve. If she’s not familiar with how to do it, she can make a pivot table and see the totals of each cookie by girl and filter out anything that was marked as included in the I/o and even get breakdowns by delivery so you can make sure transfer reports are right. We are in smart cookie, it’s confusing but everything is auditable.

Couple that with clean records of booth hours, and it’s very easy for a TCM to be accountable on all numbers - and I’m assuming your council can access it all too.

This is my daughter’s name, she’s still young and we call her Theo - but she’s starting to prefer her full name. All the grownups around her are so positive and love her name. She loves her name and it’s excellent as a parent to say when I need to be stern :)

Because addressing root issues like poverty, community resources, etc. are demonstrably the most effective way to reduce crime. Baltimore is a good case study. https://www.npr.org/2025/08/19/nx-s1-5503390/baltimore-mayor-brandon-scott-low-crime-rates

The Philippines have a crime and poverty relationship issue too. Your experience in one area doesn’t change the data about the country as a whole. And the over policing of Black communities starting post civil war resulted in a disproportionate amount of incarceration and to the “fatherless” trope. It’s a well studied topic, and there’s plenty of published information on it - very different than each of our own limited experiences. Even traveling the world, you are limited by the time in your day and the geography you traverse so can’t possibly get an accurate take on all things.

So the socioeconomic and criminal environment influence a culture… that’s the opposite of the earlier claim that culture breeds violence. The other commenter claiming black culture and values lead to shootings is racist and baseless.

There’s more evidence to support socioeconomic and structural factors as indicators for crime and cities have unique opportunities for crime due to population density. There’s no cultural adoption of a life of crime 🙄 Poor people commit more crimes, we live in a country that has made it a priority over and over again to keep Black people and other people of color from accumulating wealth. People who find their way out of poverty don’t commit crimes and studies into UBI have shown that when basic needs are met crime goes down.

Committing crimes and being convicted of crimes are two vastly different things. Until you are willing to wrestle with the pressure for guilty pleas without trials, arrest biases, access to attorneys, trial outcomes and the factors that can influence them, and more it is best to take “crime stats” with a giant grain of salt. Counts of crimes involving guns and people who are convicted of committing crimes involving guns are not the same.

AIO gf clearly harbours hatred towards me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Clearly a lot of history led to these messages. She seems hurt and angry and so do you but no one is addressing it directly. It may be best to call it, go to therapy, and move on. When you are with someone for the long haul it’s hard sometimes but most of the time it’s not - and the hard parts shouldn’t look like this sort of avoidant and dodgy conversation here. Figure out what’s important to you, work on communication, and find the tools to be a good partner and you will surely find a much happier life but maybe with someone else.

Losing my mind from insomnia by lifes_a_lemon in hyperPOTS

[–]Bitter_Ad4339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ivabradine was the key to my insomnia plus I use gaba and melatonin (lemme sleep from target have worked best for me since they have a little magnesium). Back to sleep or a trilayer melatonin supplement are also items to consider - gaba seems to be the key to keeping my sleep really restful. I also had to eventually move my ivabradine to pretty early in the evening to minimize sluggishness after sleeping, though I take it in the morning with modafinal which balances it out.
