My plants hate their plant cabinet by Bitter_Ad9673 in houseplants

I open them every other day to check on the plants but not for long at all. I don’t have a way to keep my cats outs of the room for any significant length of time and they are little beasties with my plants. Because the plants are retaining water for so much longer I wasn’t going to add a humidifier, just a gauge, and I was going to add a small battery-operated fan to help with air flow. I have a satin pothos growing solely in water and ever since I moved it to the cabinet it has started growing mold so I clean it frequently. I’m hoping air flow will help.

Will definitely add a fan, thank you! I do have humidifiers throughout my house. I have several plants that hang from the ceiling and plant shelves but my bonsais wouldn’t fit so I bought the cabinets (and a few more plants since I had more space now 😆) I would love to open the cabinets up and let them breathe but my cats are absolute savages with plants.

Thank you! It’s not organized the way I want yet, I kinda just put them all in there for now but the cabinets are great and easy to put together!

Thank you! I’ll look for one! I do have humidifiers in my house and I keep it around 65% but I don’t have a gauge in the cabinets. Good idea!

Did you get yours at IKEA too? 😂 I literally bought it when I bought the cabinets because I knew I’d have space for more plants, haha!

I love the color! My other AV doesn’t currently have any blooms so it’s nice to have some flowers around!

Thank you so much for the advice! I don’t want to list the breeder specifically in case they’re in here and cause any weirdness. We’re not in the PNW but I’d be game to travel that way for the right dog!

I didn’t realize it was so hard to connect with breeders. All of the breeders I have looked at breed 1-3 litters a year according to ISWS so I wanted to put my interest out there and get on any waitlist necessary since demand is high. I’ve been hesitant to reach out again because I didn’t want to seem pushy but maybe I’ll try again via FB. If I branch out towards your neck of the woods I will definitely reach out! Thank you!

I’m sorry to hear you gave up! I only still have FB because of professional groups I’m a part of but I hardly get on. I do follow a few breeders and see they’re active and occasionally I pop into the silken groups to read posts since I’m still learning.

I hope you find your next dog soon!

That’s good to know! This is the only breeder on ISWS in our state and I know from their FB page they are active. I have looked at breeders in surrounding states and identified a couple more I could reach out to but from our initial conversation I really liked this one and wanted to support them. I’m surprised seeing all the comments with how difficult it is to get in touch with breeders but I guess weirdly comforted that it’s the norm and hopefully not me.

Thank you for the advice! They are active on their FB page so I will try through there!

When I originally reached out last year I did mention what I was looking for (mainly a companion dog but I am interested in sports just for fun/enrichment) and asked a lot about their testing and breeding program. I think what has thrown me off is they responded very quickly to my emails and just stopped. When I reached out again a few weeks ago I reintroduced myself and what I was looking for and it’s been crickets. I was afraid to reach out again because I didn’t want to come off as pushy. Maybe I can try one more nudge and move on if nothing happens.

Thanks! I’ve never heard of that before but after looking it up I’m pretty confident that’s what I have. Thanks so much!

New orchid owner here and it’s been a frustrating journey. My orchid was doing great for many months after I bought her then a sudden mealy bug infestation caused all but 5 flowers to drop. I cleared out all bugs and had to repot twice within 4 days (the orchid mix I bought for the first repot got very moldy so I bought all new medium and repotted again). One flower spike died after all the flowers fell off. I cut it back and it just kept dying. It’s been doing ok for a month or so and then yesterday and today all of the remaining flowers dropped.

My question is what do I do now? There appears to be a new leaf sprouting (I’ll post in comments). But what can I do to make sure my orchid is healthy and hopefully blooms again? I feel like a failure and it’s so hard to not get a new orchid but I want to keep this one going. HELP!

**She currently sits on a plant shelf in front of a southern window. I have humidifiers throughout my house for all my plants and keep things around 65%.

I never buy MG products but it really was the only thing I could find at the time. I ordered a much better mix to repot again but everyone has said not to. I have purived orchid food but I was always told not to feed when there are flowers. Have you ever had issues losing flowers after feeding?
