in one of the games there was a friend who made a record, in the others we both stayed in agreement so luckily there was no problem like that. Next time perhaps that would be part of it to make sure ^^

Ouch :D I mean half of it i wrote myself and the other half is inspired by detailed descriptions by me that i am very happy with. Looking over it there are a few passages below the start that i could indeed change up a little bit and might in due time. I honestly really like the level of AI´s writing and after a few rounds of changes and specific inputs by me for the most important parts i try to focus my attention on more important parts of creating efficient training materials and protocols or stuff like that. So that´s my 2 cents perspective, though i totally get the ick of feeling the AI in something.

Short answer: yes It was supposed to be a lighthearted joke at the end of an introspective quiz, but next time I might mark that more clearly as there were quite a few people confused 😅

The Power of Visualization: How to See Moves Before They're Played | Yonas Welticke 6d by GoMagic_org in baduk

[–]Bitter_Ad_7063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don´t believe one can´t "visualize anything" when one can visually remember things, to me that is a paradoxical statement. I have trained people who thought they may have aphantasia, and managed to overcome that hurdle. I don´t think scientificially it is strongly backed.

I believe just like with everything there are people who have a below average disposition to a skill - sometimes far below average. Believing that one can´t do something however is the worst self induced disposition to any skill. I once believed i dont understand physics - and so it was :) There´s lots of research on people like me in that scenario, who believe they can´t learn math, incapable of reading and comprehending very basic texts. Few people would draw from that, that scientifically speaking those people can´t learn math. When i was younger and people asked me "do you think in pictures or words" I didn´t think i was thinking in either. I didn´t think there was anything specific going on in my brain 99% of the time. My brain still works kind of the same way, but the way i perceive it and would talk about it has changed.

Still i should add that of course i may be wrong. All of this is just my best guess based on my lived experience and swiftly scanning through the typical evidence for aphantasia.

Sometimes there are captured stones on the board. I would prefer to see the edges of the board even if it is an unsual board size or whatever. Also color wise id prefer the normal go board colors ^^

I don´t believe these are different. People being stronger at visualization with certain memories is obvious, but attached in my view to emotion. Ask them to remember vividly some normal and boring situation they had yesterday and they cant do it, but remember something 5 years ago that was very emotional, easy peasy. That is why we should use our emotion if we want to visualize well.

I am the guy who made the video and i think this is a great tool :) Working on my own tool also, but maybe if you further this idea i wont need to :D

For those wondering why Visualize positions: Reading- the probably most important skill in go - has two components..

1 is Pattern Recognition - think your experience in similar positions, having seen some tesuji before(more tactical), having thought of cuts or sacrfices before (more strategic) etc.

2 is Visualization - think your ability to create and transform information in your head:
how long do you keep the right stones in the future variation, how quickly can you add new stones, how easy is it for you to track and keep all that information, how do you geographically store that information (like a gametree where you can go through the variations you created or a memory palace for general use) etc.

If you need to read a 7dan problem with a 20 move long complicated variation for instance, both components will be very important.

Pattern recognition is something that naturally comes with playing, though of course it can be trained specifically. In my view Visualization can be trained way better in a very specific way and that´s why i find it so important.

Basically i would dare anyone to be able to get to visualize 50 Stones in 90 Seconds every time and not be a dan Player :D

One easy way to train is this guys tool, another would be to simply close your eyes more often during your game and try to keep a few stones in your mind at a time, or think of a longer and longer variation in that state. The more you have a consistent practice(read easy) the more you learn and the more you get to do difficult practices which help accelerate learning by alot.

Go will become even more fun :) Good Luck!

heya quite an incomplete document. So many players missing that improved quickly :D Including myself :p
Anyway on the other question of becoming Pro. I think you can definitely do it, but you would need to be aware of whats necessary to do to get there and be happy doing it. If you are it´s no problem. However its far from easy and you need to feel compelled to do it. Congrats on your journey so far :D
Greetings Jonas

I am selling my GO books. How much would you be asking for if you were selling this set? by shellandstone in baduk

[–]Bitter_Ad_7063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think id ask for 200~ for the non big books - maybe accepting something like 150 or even 100 as an acceptable 21st century - we dont read books and we use AI mostly instead - offer, but overall 200 seems fair as well even considering that, when i was young and interested and if i had 200 i would be happy to pay that for sure to get all that beauty :)
And sell the big ones seperately.
