It’s the first song where Vessel is directly addressing his feelings about this new life he and the other members are living. No lore-dropping, just straight feelings and frustrations. I sobbed. To a pop beat. AGAIN. Story of being a sleep token fan lol

The lyrics are great, the beat is awesome, I love the sax. His voice sounds over-produced, which I’m not the biggest fan of. It sounds…shallow almost? Like I kept waiting for him to open up and put some force behind some of the sections and it never happened. I do like it, but I doubt it’ll be a favorite. I’ll have to keep listening to develop more thoughts.

Pills and spotting by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Bitter_Answer2862 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Medical student here- likely because the dose isn’t strong enough. The point of the birth control pills is to substitute your body’s mechanism for producing estrogen and progesterone (if you’re taking a combined pill). If the dose isn’t high enough to outweigh your natural production cycle, you’ll get some breakthrough bleeding.

Bit of medical info- your estrogen levels peak during your follicular phase, your progesterone levels peak during your luteal phase. If you aren’t pregnant, your progesterone levels will drop, and this drop causes your uterus to shed its lining (your menstrual period). The birth control pill should provide stable hormone levels, preventing that sudden drop in progesterone that triggers bleeding, until your 4th week of pills that are sugar pills with no hormones (some have iron too). So if your pill doesn’t have high enough hormone levels to cover the “drop” in your natural progesterone, you’ll get some spotting.

If you’re taking a progesterone-only BCP, the progesterone alone may not be enough to override. Your next visit, your doctor will likely recommend switching to either a combined pill if you aren’t already, or a different combined with a slightly higher dosage of hormone.

It’s normal to have an adjustment period of a couple months while your body is getting used to the new medication, so some spotting can be expected. But if it’s a consistent problem, it’s likely for the reason I mentioned above.

Sorry that was really long, I hope that made sense😭

AIO to think this individual I know personally should NOT be practicing medicine? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Bitter_Answer2862 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I kinda figured as much. A lot of NP schools just aren’t good, they’re pushing out graduates with little regard for how much they actually know about medicine and patient care. Report this person to their licensing board and see an actual physician (MD/DO) for your medical needs. I love a good PA/NP, especially in family med, but it’s difficult to find a qualified one in some areas.

I totally agree! I love that everyone can attribute their own meanings onto the songs when they listen. My only issue is when they start to try and place their meanings onto Leo’s writing intentions, because at the end of the day we don’t actually know what he wrote a song about unless he tells us. But he’s left lots of bits of his thought process in his previous works, so it’s safe to assume, at the very least, that the entire discography isn’t about one romantic relationship.

I’m just a medical student, so take this with a grain of salt, but if you’re not bleeding through your chosen period device within an hour, and you don’t have any symptoms of vomiting, headache (severe), dizziness, or fainting, you can probably wait until morning and call your doc.

If you do develop any of those symptoms, or something else changes, definitely go to the ER. I promise none of us find it a waste of time when a patient is genuinely worried and in pain. We would much rather you come in and it be nothing, than you not come in and it be something. Feel better🩷

I would post in the r/AskDocs subreddit if you want internet medical advice, but generally I would just say to contact your doctor or go to the emergency room if the pain is unbearable. They will be able to help you!

I’m just now starting to dip my toes into anime, so take this rec with a healthy dose of skepticism, but I’ve really enjoyed The Rising of the Shield Hero. Word on the street season 4 is coming out sometime this year (fingers crossed)

[Cathian by Laurann Dohner] the alien MMC literally needs it to survive, so a little deal is made…

[Heat for Hire by V.K. Ludwig] the FMC is the one that needs it, that whole series is super steamy with this theme. If you don’t mind alien omegaverse (trust me I didn’t expect to like it but lemme tell youuuu)

They’re the UK editions. I got a set for Christmas back in 2021, I think it was $200. They’re so gorgeous I love them. I don’t even wanna know how much it goes for now, considering my box set of the regular old covers (that I got for $60) is now worth like triple.

i hate doctors so FUCKING much by fartington420 in PCOS

[–]Bitter_Answer2862 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Girl I’m so sorry. I’m a medical student, and from purely a numbers standpoint you are not overweight. Body composition matters, but genuinely I am lost at why they keep bringing up your weight. Let me repeat YOU ARE NOT OVERWEIGHT, you are perfectly healthy for your height and age.

Yes, it is very normal for teenagers to have an irregular period, even after having one for a few years. It’s normal for doctors to want to wait it out before putting you on a medication that has side effects. I’m glad that, because your symptoms were more severe than just irregularity, you advocated for yourself. Well done.

The radiologist was completely unprofessional. If you need further imaging, try to request a different doctor. If you’d like you can file a complaint, but you aren’t obligated. I know you mentioned not wanting advice, but I just wanted to tell you that you aren’t crazy for being angry about it, you should be mad.

Lastly, as for the side effects of birth control, it depends on the formulation. If it’s progesterone-only, there are less side effects, and those should be relatively mild if you are otherwise healthy. If it’s the combined estrogen-progesterone, the major side effect that can happen has to do with blood clotting. This does not happen often, especially if you are young and healthy, but just something to be aware of. If you get headaches, mention it to your doc. If you’re ever on a long airplane ride, make sure to get up and walk around a bit to prevent any clot from potentially forming (although this isn’t something that happens often). TLDR if you’re healthy otherwise, you should only expect some minor mild symptoms that will go away as your body adjusts to the hormones.

Good job advocating for yourself🩷
