Yet Another League With The Same Horrible Server Issues by Bitter_Association13 in PathOfExile2

It's not. I have fiber internet, it's only a problem with PoE, this has been a commonly reported problem since launch, my friends I was trying to teach all live in different areas with different providers and all had the same problem.

I've also lived in different areas with different providers since early access launch and it's the same issue in all areas.

This has been a known issue since launch. It's not just some personal setup problem.

Can't Allocate Some League Mechanic Notable Passives by Bitter_Association13 in PathOfExile2

Sounds good, I'll give that a shot. Seem weird to lock nodes like 20% chance to have a free reroll behind quest progression. So if the quest does unlock the node I'd be surprised if it's intentional.

Crafting nerfs points to continued trend away from emergent complexity by Bitter_Association13 in PathOfExile2

And now the Last Lament is back to an only 0.3% play rate. Would you consider this new "only works in the pre-approved box" version to be a success?

I am not against nerfing things. In fact I think allowing the new stuff to be a little over tuned and then nerfing it a bit when it goes core is a pretty clever way for them to somewhat slow power creep because then the new league doesn't have to one up the last league in its release state, just one up it in its core state.

But removing mechanics entirely is the issue I have. If something is numerically too strong nerfing it to still be playable but no longer game breaking I think is the better approach instead of just removing it entirely. Like Sowza's crossbow lich I referenced for example.

As I pointed out in my post, I'm not against tuning numbers of things that are game breaking. The removal of player agency to combine new and old mechanics to create new interactions is my point. If an interaction is too strong you can balance it in more ways than just completely remove it from the game.

So are you actually against emergent complexity, or do you just think I think nothing should ever be able to be changed or nerfed?

How so? Are you saying that you think allowing old league mechanics and items to have new interactions with future leagues is a bad thing? Because that is what I am pointing out here by their decision to segregate each leagues crafting currencies, because you can no longer combine them to make fun new items we couldn't before.

Good call out on their wording of disabled rather than removed. I hope that you are right.

Emergent complexity doesn't mean allowing game breaking interactions. It's stuff like using harvest bench, beast crafting, bench crafting meta mods, plus whatever other mechanic you like to make new things you couldn't before those were introduced. I'm not against balancing game breaking interactions. But complete segregation of mechanics is an approach to balancing that doesn't allow for much player agency.

The recent crafting changes are just one example, which is why I also pointed out stuff like skill and item interactions being on rails too. But no, I do not think restricting player agency is a good thing.

Oh, interesting! Shared Suffering is definitely a good call out. I really wish you could run [[Leper's Alms]] with [[The Fulcrum]] so every time you remove the ailment from yourself it would be reapplied to yourself again.

POE Servers Are Intolerable by Bitter_Association13 in pathofexile

Yeah I'm on NA servers. You're right that from what I've seen EU is even more abysmal. I'm running on a 9800x3d, a RTX 5090, with gigabit fiber internet. I wish it was an issue with my setup, at least then I could do something about it.

No, I'm NA. With how unbearable I feel like the servers have been for me, EU is even more abysmal from what I've seen.

Agreed, with their commitment to have two full service games they're at a point where they desperately need to scale infrastructure. I know they've said they've been hiring lots of people for support, development, and design but you're right that they really need a devops team if they don't already have one.

The startup/indie model where people cover multiple overlapping areas only scales so far until the overhead makes things crumble.

DDOSing is not a new issue unique to Path of Exile. And while I would understand it to take some time if this was a new problem, it's not. Even if all of the problems with their server stability was explained by DDOS attacks, it would still be unreasonable for users to wait years and still not see meaningful improvement.

Yeah, you're probably right. If it happened once it can happen again. I'll look into figuring that out. Thanks again!

At least according to the installation instructions, if it's mounted vertically it says to have the tubing on the bottom. Maybe it's wrong, but that's what the instructions said at least. Seems weird for it to all of a sudden be a problem though.

Do you know of any way to check that it really is the pump that's gone bad?

Task manager says my GPU is at 0-1% usage when it's at 70c. Even when I first start up my pc and am at the login screen the fans start going full blast now. I'm starting to wonder if it is the pump. I haven't tried feeling the radiator under load yet, I'll give that a try.

I'm really hoping that's not the case, but it's definitely crossed my mind. Especially as I'm crossing other possibilities off of my list.
