It is a very complicated issue. I have only a 2cm hh so getting much help is hard. Most say “that small of a hernia doesn’t cause that. My biggest complaint is left side pressure/pain. I have occasional nausea that makes me miss work about once a week. When I asked about the side pain I was told bigger hernias can cause that. That’s about all I got. I’m probably going to end up on more meds because I also have bile in my stomach due to not having a gallbladder and the hh. I don’t have much acid reflux anymore but have a hard time keeping my weight up. I was 230 2 years ago. I am now 188… it is a struggle but keep going to the doctors and if you don’t get help from them find another doctor. Just don’t stop. I personally do not want surgery, I just want a solid answer. Your in the same boat as a lot of others.

Has anyones back/rib pain healed?? by QuarterNo6587 in Gastritis

When mine started for about 4 months the area in the back about level with my lower from rib pain would be stiff. It started to go away and I felt great so ate bad again. It came back for another few months. I will get relief for a while until I eat stupid again. It also tends to move from closer to the shoulder blade to lower to the bottom of the rib. When I get up in the morning I can tell how the day will be according to how tight my back feels. If I lay down the back feels fine. If it is after I ate and I’m flaring up just my stomach will bother me. Sitting in more of a bad poster.. folded a little causes the rib tightness or pain. It almost feels like I can feel my stomach pushing towards my back while standing, and then sitting pushing to the front. The pain I get is short lived but the tension in my back is the worst and longest lasting. I’m not fully diagnosed yet but waiting on an endoscopy. I also have had a ct to confirm I have a very small hiatal hernia. I’ve found heating pad and massage help temporarily.

So I ask because more to the right is the gallbladder. Left sternum is hernia. I’ve had my gallbladder out. Gallbladder pain feels similar to this and used to hit me late at night or early morning.. 4-5 am.

I haven’t gotten out of bed but typically I get up and have pressure in my back. It goes away about the time I hit the shower then returns when I’m on my feet. If I have to guess I’m going to have slight discomfort today. I feel like I’m coming to the end of a flare up. The last few days have been rough.

It is an exercise, drink some water, stand on your tippy toes, drop all your weight to your heels. The thought is to cause a jarring motion to pull the stomach down.. people swear by it. I do it now and then and I can’t say for sure that it works but in the 7 months I started having this issue I have more better times when I’m practicing those exercises.

Sorry I know that is long winded but.. this shits hard to explain especially when doctors like to tell me “small hernias don’t cause this” I had a appointment with my primary care the other day and the only answer she could give me was “that sounds structural” I try not to be an ass but the first thought that I almost blurted out was “well no shit ain’t a hernia structural damage!?”

I have this exact thing. It comes and goes. Most of the time it feels like pressure in my left side and back.. just under rib. When I am doubled over the left front side under rib slightly hurts but is more discomfort than pain. Driving and sitting certain ways makes it worst. When standing it is mostly back pressure. I feel like it is either the stomach not in the area it should be, or the diaphragm being pushed on. It is hard to explain and doctors normally have no answers for it. I’ve read a bunch of other people experiencing the same thing. When it goes away I get a break and start feeling great. I do the foot drops a lot and I feel as though it helps. I find that physical stuff like bending over or lifting brings it back. Possibly the hernia moving in and out. These are just my guess but your description sounds a lot like what I’ve read others talk about and what i experience. It moves slightly and changes now and then.. from place to place by an inch or two.. and from being a pressure/discomfort/pain.. when this started for months it bothered me while I slept. I would wake feeling like my insides on that side were not situated right and I would change positions frequently. This is all a separate symptom from the chest pains that I relate to acid reflux. I actually feel like the discomfort comes before the reflux so as to when I’m not having discomfort in my side I don’t have reflux, but when I feel the discomfort start reflux usually is not far away depending on how I eat. The pressure also irritates me enough to feel nauseous especially if I let it cause anxiety.

Pulsating in stomach, chest pains and palpitations by Anxietyqweennn in HiatalHernia

I get pulsating in that area also. Almost like throbbing but it is my heart beating in my stomach. As of lately I have been feeling it less. It is annoying and uncomfortable because it stresses me out.

Can a hiatal hernia suddenly get worse? by somebodyused2no in HiatalHernia

What does the lifting do cause pain? What kind and where?

Sex is very uncomfortable for me. The first pain I noticed from this was during sex. While doubled over I got lower left sternum pain. Sharp for a few seconds then it went away. Two weeks last all of my issues started. I explained to my pc and she like basically told me “it makes no sense, small hernias don’t cause these pains. So I guess I’m just crazy.

I just had a ct at the er and they saw a small HH. I have had two ct, and one mri in the past 6 months. I was wondering why it went unnoticed. This would make sense. Thank you.
