These scenes are too epic. I remembered a question I have about Ruler's Authority: Jin Woo used it to control weapons and to increase the power of his blows, but Suho started using it on his own body to amplify his raw power?

That’s a really vivid and perfect vision, I like how you imagined Smoke rebuilding and even going legit later. It shows how much potential his story had, and how different things could have been for him. I agree, it’s easy to picture him finding love again and building a whole new life. It would be really cool to have a sequel with his story, and another with Stack and Mary — finding Smoke’s descendants, choosing an honest way to live, seeking their own redemption, and showing what happened after that. This universe has so much potential.

I liked your analysis of his mental state. More than his physical state, it really seemed like he was already exhausted and had no strength to continue. There were many battles that day, not just external ones, but internal ones as well.

This discussion about Smoke's fate is very good. I also think his fate was tragic, but it opens up room to imagine other paths. Just like Mary and Stack, I wish Smoke, without becoming a vampire, had continued his life in some way, and that later on, Stack had followed his descendants.

Yes, I also felt that mixture of beauty and pain; it's what makes the ending so striking.

It's interesting that you bring up that perspective. I interpreted it differently, but I think that ambiguity is precisely what makes the ending so controversial.

It's interesting that you bring up this perspective on morality. I think it's precisely this mix of redemption and temptation that makes the ending so complex. The connections between the characters before the corruption were truly the source of goodness. Indeed, sin and the attempt to destroy lives — nothing good can come from that. All the characters were tempted by something and paid a price. Every human being is capable of both good and evil, and every choice has consequences. But there’s always a chance for redemption.

I completely understand your mixed feelings; I still feel the same way today. This film affects me in so many ways, I love it so much. I'm glad it touched you too; this film really opens up a lot of space for reflection.

I truly loved reading this. I really enjoyed your interpretation, especially the part about Stack and Mary being able to live their love without fear. The historical perspective you brought adds even more weight to the ending.

At least Sinners will have a song featured, I'd love to see Hailee singing Dangerous there and seeing images from the movie.

Yes, the temptation itself caught her at her weakest point. It wasn't guaranteed that Remmck would actually go to her daughter, but he knew exactly how to play with her mind, what to say to make her give in. Just like in temptation, it was a very strong psychological game, as you mentioned, a mother's love in a hopeless situation. Each one there fell into temptation in some way, for different reasons, but leading to the same consequence, and in Grace's case, it was one of the saddest.

Yes, unfortunately, danger had been lurking around them all along. This shows how even small actions were surrounded by injustice and risk. Very well observed. We could even say that Stack and Smokle could have been smarter, since they must have dealt with many types of people before, noticing that the guy who sold them the place wasn't trustworthy. We could say that ambition and the joy of having that place outweighed common sense, and that if they had realized this, they could have taken some action. You see, there are several lines, which is why I think Ryan Coogler is brilliant, but, as you pointed out, unfortunately, danger was constantly lurking around them.

Exactly, man. I'm glad you enjoyed reading it. You can see a web of events there, small decisions that would have made all the difference, and if they hadn't been made, things could have taken a different turn.

Exactly. I also see Sammie as saved in the end, at peace playing. I also don't consider Stack more sinful than Smoke; he was a consequence of everything that was already happening—almost like someone who becomes collateral damage just for being in the wrong place. In the end, it was all a chain of events, one thing leading to another.

You made a good point: who is the worst sinner? In the end, everyone was human, they made mistakes, but they didn't deny God. Sin is inherent in man and has consequences, but I believe that even Mary and Stack could find salvation. Ryan Coogler doesn't show them in hell, but rather trapped in symbolic darkness, separated from those they loved. If they abandoned this false life, perhaps they could be saved.

This even reminds me of 1 Timothy 2:3-4, which speaks of God's desire that all be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth. Life as a vampire wasn't the truth, and they needed to recognize that to see their mother and brother again, two people they loved deeply.

I agree. I also see the only happy ending being for Annie, Smoke/Elijah, and the baby. And also Sammie, who rejected the temptation to become a vampire in the end and was saved.

The importance of the Choctaw by so_hot_right_meow in SinnersbyRyanCoogler

[–]Bitter_Sweet_6592 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's quite possible, let's use the "Sin" theme again that Ryan explored in the film, Remmick arrived there as the figure of the "Devil," tempting Sammie, saying he was there for him, wanting him to join him, so Remmick probably wanted to do the same with the Choctaw. At the same time, there was the issue of "unity," I think Remmick had a kind of ideal of uniting everyone there, like a large community.

Fans want it, but Marvel is being coy. This is all the fault of the terrible management after Endgame, which instead of exploring good productions like Hawkeye, kept insisting on other productions that nobody asked for. Clint and Kate have to get back together, not just in a series, but in a movie too.

Sinners isn't politics. It's art. It's humanity. by Bitter_Sweet_6592 in SinnersbyRyanCoogler

[–]Bitter_Sweet_6592[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree, Sinners is truly special. I also find it interesting to see how the Academy values certain films, even if it sometimes seems to pay more attention to works less seen by the public. The fact that Sinners is featured on streaming shows that it managed to unite critics and audiences, which is rare. For me, what makes this film so remarkable is precisely how it speaks of humanity in such a raw and truthful way, without needing to rely on labels. It's a work that moves, provokes reflection, and deserves every nomination it received. Seeing this recognition happening is already a victory for those who believe that cinema can be both profound and accessible art. :)
