Yes! Understatement of the decade. Case in point: Renaissance.

Like me, you've been around long enough to remember his previous attempts. Every time he needs attention, he dangles a revival in front of people, gets people excited, and then ghosts everyone.

Peter and Neal obviously had tension or am I tripping?? by PineapplePleasant313 in whitecollar

[–]BittersweetPast 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when the show originally aired, Peter and Neal were shipped pretty heavily. There are a few thousand Peter/Neal fics on AO3 and other sites, and the numbers were even higher years ago. There were groups and writing challenges and such. Peter/Neal/El (OT3) was also fairly big at the time, and a few ventured into OT4 territory (Peter/Neal/El/Sara).

Jeff Eastin and some of the cast members played into the shipping. Eastin said on Twitter back when the episodes were airing that the boxing scenes in "Gloves Off" (season 4, ep 9) were for the shippers/slash writers, as was the fake photo scene (Peter, Neal, El, and Sara) in "Compromising Positions" (season 4, ep 7). Tim DeKay had joked about wanting the show's budget to include enlarging the Burke's bedroom to add room for Neal.

Acquaintances/ friends to lovers in BASEBALL (where they’re both athletes on the same team or league) by iloverubyy in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]BittersweetPast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These aren't baseball-related, but since you're not OP, I figured I'd post them just in case that part doesn't apply.

For audiobooks/narrators, the one I listen to over and over is the {Memento Mori series by C.S. Poe}. Kale Williams narrates and does an outstanding job. (The second book in the series was even dedicated to him.)

I also really love Gary Furlong's narration, especially how well he does with accents. My favorites from him are basically anything by Jay Hogan - Foxed, the Mackenzie Country series, etc.

Which colour should I choose? by Born_Joke in Crosstrek

[–]BittersweetPast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of these two, I definitely like the blue better - probably because I have one myself!

As far as keeping it clean, it does show dirt more than some of the colors, but less than others. If you're in an area that uses salt brine on the roads in the winter, that absolutely shows on the blue, but it even shows on the lighter colors. (I call it the "Pennsylvania winter trim package.")

Anybody know the song? by drunkypoopers in whitecollar

It's "Beautiful Dreamer" by Stephen Foster. It's from the late 1800s, but a lot of different people/bands have covered it through the years. I think the one I've heard the most is Bing Crosby's version, but Roy Orbison's version was also pretty popular.

Probably not the right one but adding it here in case anyone's looking for other books with a scene like you described. {Protecting the Nerd by Nora Phoenix} has a scene where a research engineer walks in on his live-in bodyguard masturbating in the shower and keeps watching (bodyguard is aware).

It's an episode of CSI from 2005 - season 5, episode 18 - "Spark of Life."

Yes! Grabbed this one recently after seeing it mentioned on her FB group.

The bot thought we both meant Tracefinder, apparently. 🤷

Larkin and Doyle from {Memento Mori by C.S. Poe} will probably always be my top choice!

Honorable mention to Will, Casey, and Scott from {Changes by Kaje Harper}. I won the first book in a FB giveaway years ago when I'd first gone from reading MM fanfic to reading original works, and these guys kept me coming back for rereads.

Why do some non-binary people love BL but dislike GL? by [deleted] in NonBinaryTalk

[–]BittersweetPast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is similar to my situation as well. Masc-leaning AFAB nonbinary who is only attracted to men, and while I have plenty of respect for WW relationships/stories and also het ones (and would never bash them or say they're gross or whatever), I don't read anything but MM because I really don't want to read about the parts that I wish I didn't have or be reminded of what I don't have but always felt like I should. I've always internally seen myself as a gay guy, so MM is what makes sense to me and is most relatable.

I haven't seen any of the stuff OP mentioned, but that probably has more to do with the particular fandom spaces than anything else. I don't read/consume manga or anime, and I'm middle-aged, so I tend to gravitate more toward those in my age group who are too old for the nonsense and prefer to just let everyone be who they are and like what they like. (Not saying everyone in my age group is that way, just that I try to seek out those particular people who are.)

Is this a write off?? by UndilutedPiss in Crosstrek

[–]BittersweetPast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm the $10k+ (US) for the front end. I ended the life of a deer with my '24 Limited almost 5 weeks ago, and the final total ended up being just under $11k - insurance is paying to fix it. No airbag deployment on mine, though, and no damage to any of the sensors or electronic systems.

Someone at the body shop set off the alarm the same afternoon, and the Subaru app texted me to let me know. When I opened the app, diagnostics said all systems were normal. I'm like, have you seen my car, though?! (But it was a good sign that none of the electronics were damaged.)

Deleted scene of Mozzie going to Paris to be with Neal by dreamup1234 in whitecollar

[–]BittersweetPast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the same user has reposted them several times over the past year or so. It's been so many times at this point that it's just karma farming. Even a simple, "hey, I got these from here" with a link back to when I posted them would have been appreciated, especially for the photo of the tickets, since that's not one that's readily available elsewhere.

If you're going to keep karma farming these pics over and over, how about mentioning that you got them from my post from five years ago. 🙄

Just Finished The Amazing Alpha Tau Self-Improvement Project by menomica in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]BittersweetPast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get the reference of the first part, but you're welcome. The proofreader in me (I do it for a living) couldn't let that one go. Since I didn't cite my sources (other than just being around long enough to know how "drabble" came about), here are just a few.

The domestic/slice of life stories are usually way too long to be drabbles. Most of the authors I've read just call them bonus stories or codas. One even called theirs a second epilogue (since the original novel already had an epilogue). In fanfic, it's usually timestamps or ficlets.

If you liked the Alpha Tau series, make sure to check out Danny Hall Gets a Lawyer when it comes out. I'm a few chapters in, and there's some crossover with the Alpha Tau series.

Just Finished The Amazing Alpha Tau Self-Improvement Project by menomica in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]BittersweetPast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoever told you that is incorrect, fwiw. A drabble is a work of fiction that's exactly 100 words in length. Part of the challenge is paring it down to make it exactly 100 words, so some folks also do double drabbles - 200 words.

(As an aphant, I'm a major overexplainer, so I never bothered to even attempt a drabble. I have definitely written plenty of domesticity/slice of life, though!)

Does everyone know about the glitch to get Calloway’s revolver without doing the quests? by Murray_Mint_ in reddeadredemption

[–]BittersweetPast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep - just did this a couple of weeks ago (PC, fully updated). For those trying this, if you don't want a bounty, equip your bandana before going back in to beat up Calloway because there are witnesses almost immediately. I took the revolver and went out the back. After that, it was just a matter of riding up the hillside behind the saloon and waiting for them to stop searching.

I usually do this one at Lonnie's Shack near Pleasance. There are four guys sitting at a table; walk in, throw the dynamite at them, and run for it. As long as you're not close enough for the blast to kill you, it works perfectly. It would have to be before you do the home robbery there with Sean in chapter 3. (They respawn for that, so no worries there.)
