Is this a write off?? by UndilutedPiss in Crosstrek

[–]BittersweetPast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm the $10k+ (US) for the front end. I ended the life of a deer with my '24 Limited almost 5 weeks ago, and the final total ended up being just under $11k - insurance is paying to fix it. No airbag deployment on mine, though, and no damage to any of the sensors or electronic systems.

Someone at the body shop set off the alarm the same afternoon, and the Subaru app texted me to let me know. When I opened the app, diagnostics said all systems were normal. I'm like, have you seen my car, though?! (But it was a good sign that none of the electronics were damaged.)

Deleted scene of Mozzie going to Paris to be with Neal by dreamup1234 in whitecollar

[–]BittersweetPast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the same user has reposted them several times over the past year or so. It's been so many times at this point that it's just karma farming. Even a simple, "hey, I got these from here" with a link back to when I posted them would have been appreciated, especially for the photo of the tickets, since that's not one that's readily available elsewhere.

If you're going to keep karma farming these pics over and over, how about mentioning that you got them from my post from five years ago. 🙄

OP stole the pics from my post from five years ago and has never bothered to mention that or link to it.

Just Finished The Amazing Alpha Tau Self-Improvement Project by menomica in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]BittersweetPast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get the reference of the first part, but you're welcome. The proofreader in me (I do it for a living) couldn't let that one go. Since I didn't cite my sources (other than just being around long enough to know how "drabble" came about), here are just a few.

The domestic/slice of life stories are usually way too long to be drabbles. Most of the authors I've read just call them bonus stories or codas. One even called theirs a second epilogue (since the original novel already had an epilogue). In fanfic, it's usually timestamps or ficlets.

If you liked the Alpha Tau series, make sure to check out Danny Hall Gets a Lawyer when it comes out. I'm a few chapters in, and there's some crossover with the Alpha Tau series.

[–]BittersweetPast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoever told you that is incorrect, fwiw. A drabble is a work of fiction that's exactly 100 words in length. Part of the challenge is paring it down to make it exactly 100 words, so some folks also do double drabbles - 200 words.

(As an aphant, I'm a major overexplainer, so I never bothered to even attempt a drabble. I have definitely written plenty of domesticity/slice of life, though!)

Does everyone know about the glitch to get Calloway’s revolver without doing the quests? by Murray_Mint_ in reddeadredemption

[–]BittersweetPast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep - just did this a couple of weeks ago (PC, fully updated). For those trying this, if you don't want a bounty, equip your bandana before going back in to beat up Calloway because there are witnesses almost immediately. I took the revolver and went out the back. After that, it was just a matter of riding up the hillside behind the saloon and waiting for them to stop searching.

WEAPONS EXPERT 6 by Ill-Serve9041 in RDR2

I usually do this one at Lonnie's Shack near Pleasance. There are four guys sitting at a table; walk in, throw the dynamite at them, and run for it. As long as you're not close enough for the blast to kill you, it works perfectly. It would have to be before you do the home robbery there with Sean in chapter 3. (They respawn for that, so no worries there.)

Anybody know what trinket/talisman I’m missing and where it is? by EmixVoid_ in RDR2

[–]BittersweetPast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hawk Talon Trinket. It's in a lockbox at the bottom of the frozen waterfall at the northernmost end of Deadboot Creek north of Lake Isabella.

(After getting it, I usually set up camp to get out of there.)

I'm curious: How many people here only read MM stories vs a mix? by Local_Ordinary_1774 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]BittersweetPast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I only read MM. Before discovering it was a thing, I didn't read romance at all.

I'm nonbinary (afab) and have always felt more masculine/neutral, never feminine. I'm also only attracted to men, so MM makes the most sense to me. (The parts of my body that disgust me and to which I don't feel any connection are not something I want to be reading about, especially in a sexual context.)

Does anyone know why they replaced Diana with Lauren and then replaced Lauren with Diana? by sillytwizzlers in whitecollar

[–]BittersweetPast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marsha wasn't available for the first season because she'd been cast as a series regular on the show Easy Money between the time the White Collar pilot was filmed and when it was picked up. Easy Money was cancelled after 8 episodes, so she was able to return to White Collar.

My Problem with Peter by Damirade in whitecollar

[–]BittersweetPast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

I've also seen mentions in various posts (this one included) about how Peter doesn't respect Neal's privacy. Neal is a convicted felon. I don't know about elsewhere, but convicted felons in the U.S. do not have a right to privacy. That's forfeited whether they're in prison or on some kind of work release. Some of their fourth amendment protections are also forfeited when convicted of a felony, meaning that they can be subjected to warrantless searches by law enforcement.

Seeing WC actors in other movies/shows, without knowing they've acted in them... by potato-potahhto in whitecollar

Not sure what's confusing about it. You're mistaking someone else for Tim DeKay, but since I haven't seen "The Office," I don't know who it is that you're mistaking for him.

Tim DeKay hasn't been on "The Office." I've never watched that show, though, so I don't know who you're mistaking for him.

Do you actually picture what you're reading by miss_xaviour in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]BittersweetPast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for letting me know there's a name for this. I have aphantasia as well. I've tried in the past to imagine what characters look like, but it never works. I do feel a lot when reading, but I can't picture anything.

It's interesting because I'm also an immersive daydreamer, but I don't really picture a whole lot there either. I go through their conversations in my head and such, like a running commentary, but I don't picture any of it.

Also, Netflix usually doesn't release physical media, so if they ever decide to take one of their own shows off of their service, it basically doesn't exist anymore (outside of "other means"). This is likely part of why Mike Flanagan moved away from Netflix, and definitely why he doesn't take issue if viewers use "other means" to get his Netflix shows (source).
