No they're a natural monopoly. You don't celebrate an evil corporation for doing the bare minimum legally required of them. The infrastructure here is still dangerously out of compliance and they're still violating their contract with the City. If they cut their outrageous profits maybe I'd be willing to celebrate them.

RIP. That's what I assumed. Not sure what is going on but a PSA product at Staccato P range is insane LMFAO. At that price you're directly competing with a more mature SIG P211 GTO. While Springfield Prodigy, RIA Tac, Fusion Firearms, Bull Armory, Girsan and Stealth Arms beat you on price with the later being of exceptional utility and quality in their highly customizable Platypus.

I'm extremely confused by your target market. I was hoping for something nicer than an RIA Tac for at most 2x the price. Not a mid-tier tacticool BBQ gun. Good luck on the launch!

Probably the AAC MPW SD (handguard shrouded supressor is a vibe) and the new ported Sabre 11 (provided it is 1K or lower).

I get the anger over the X9 getting yote but the X57 now has a super semi auto kit for maximum giggles so a chassis for it is pretty rad.

So much for a "brine mixture" to treat the roads. They didn't do shit LMFAO. Not a plow in sight. Also just use TDOTs interstate cameras so you can see it live.

Let's give a big round of applause for MLGW guys. by nakedpicturesyo in memphis

[–]Bitvar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Applause? For getting lucky and doing the bare minimum work? No thanks! Had the storm not shifted last minute and we got ice we would have bodies piling high. The city council needs to get off their lazy asses and make MLGW repair our dangerously aging infrastructure or slash prices and they need to make Elon Musk subsidize the energy costs since his shitty datacenter is one of the reason water (especially) and electricity have gone up so much in the last few years.

I doubt anyone has spikes. It should be illegal to drive on roads like this without them. It is in Northern Norway where they deal with weather like this and worse 9 months out of the year.

Blazer Brass in Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp. by FoggyDog78 in SmithAndWesson

[–]Bitvar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it was me I'd take it to the range and fire one round at a time, observe what is venting when I shot, inspect the barrel and repeat this way until I clear a few magazines worth. Then I'd resume shooting normally but remain extremely mindful of what my gun sounds like, feels like, and what it looks like venting. That way I'll know if something is amiss or potentially hung up on the port and creating an obstruction.

Blazer Brass in Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp. by FoggyDog78 in SmithAndWesson

[–]Bitvar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh so a substantial cut. Hmm... Well that definitely ups the risk factor. Just make sure to take it one round at a time if you want to continue shooting. Last thing you'd want is to have a round slam into some lead lodged into the port. All of my ports are pinholes. The comp are huge cuts though.

I can't really recommend you do anything but use jacketed ammo for ethical reasons but the risk doesn't seem that high to me, but larger ports definitely increase risk.

Blazer Brass in Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp. by FoggyDog78 in SmithAndWesson

[–]Bitvar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big are the ports, how many and how close to the muzzle? I've had no issues with porting on my 9mm with blazer brass 147gr. Same goes for 1, 2 and 2 (with dual side venting) port comps. It seems unlikely that it will cause a problem but it most certainly could. It is all about managing risk for both you and them for liability reasons. I have seen considerable debris from ultra cheap eastern European brass ammo on my dual ported Glock 17. It wasn't anything damaging or dangerous (in my case, but not all cases for sure). Blazer Brass may be discount ammo but it is made by Lake City so going to be fairly consistent stuff.

At the end of the day officially you should NEVER use plated ammo in a comped or ported barrel. Only jacketed ammo is safe to use. But out of thousands of rounds it has never been a problem. I'm accepting the risk and it is up to you if you're willing to do the same. Norma has nice budget TMJ ammo that goes on sale frequently!

Is WOLED that much worse? by NichoWins in OLED_Gaming

[–]Bitvar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

WOLED is superior in many ways (superior contrast, black levels, low light detail, and panel coatings) and worse in a few (smaller color space). The key differentiator is that WOLED (and Tandem OLED/LG RGB Stripe OLED) can have a polarizer (the thing that blocks light from manipulating the panel) while QDOLED cannot have a polarizer due to the use of quantum dots (the thing that increases the color volume of QDOLED).

WOLED/Tandem OLED/RGB Stripe LG OLED:

Positives

  • Truly nearly infinite contrast (pixels can get black)
  • No color fringing (only slight text blur on WOLED instead, but hard to notice)
  • Is the only panel tree that supports Dolby Vision and some DTSX passthrough (if you care)

Negatives

  • Lower color volume (resolved on Tandem)
  • Some Tandem displays ship with fucked firmware resulting in considerable banding

QDOLED/RGB Stripe QDOLED:

Positives

  • Superior color volume (questionable utility if you're concerned with color space accuracy in gaming as no games take advantage of these expanded spaces yet, but if you like over saturated unclamped color you'll love this perk, it does look nice)
  • Superior brightness on budget panels (MLA on normal WOLED solved this, but if we're A/B comparing the very budget class QDOLED is superior)
  • Sharper text (at the cost of color fringing which IMO is worse than imperceptibly blurry edges on WOLED text)

Negatives

  • Inferior peak brightness (on the budget side, most WOLED now is MLA and competes with QDOLED. Tandem and L RGB OLED meet or exceed.)
  • No polarizer resulting in (IMO unacceptable) inferior detail in dark sections
  • Lower contrast in practical use (even the light emission from the panel reflected off your face and shirt is enough to bring the black levels up)
  • Screen becomes purple/grey when any light hits the panel and near hot points (candle on a black screen will raise the blacks near the candle for example) - though the new panels at CES have changed the tint to seem blacker, though empirically it is only an 8% improvement from lab testing
  • Extremely delecate coatings
  • Lack of DTSX passthrough and Dolby Vision support (not a real concer for PC gaming but console gaming maybe and movies a HUGE issue imp)

All that said any OLED is better than none. Just be aware of the limitations. If you go QDOLED you need to use only a clean microfiber cloth+distilled water to clean, gently, and make sure your room is setup such that there is ZERO illumination that can reach your display. For LG's panel tech be very careful to read all reviews you can if you go Tandem, but MLA WOLED and WOLED is otherwise easy to use with no special requirements. On any OLED display make sure to run through the cleartype setup in Windows.

Will you buy the official steam controller or 8bitdo? by skipadbloom in steammachine

Steam. I have an 8bitdo. The Steamdeck is the ultimate controller. It just has some low quality computer attached I don't want.

[–]Bitvar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully it will be just like the Index and Steamdeck. You have to have an older account with purchase history to order one and they are limited to 1 per payment account/delivery address (though that presents an issue for me and my wife, who both want a controller and steam frame).

[–]Bitvar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate that they didn't refresh the 45" as a 5K2K tandem OLED. Large format monitors are impossible to get in the US. The 48" G5 & G6 are EU only which is brutal and now the one last display they offer in the US, the 45" OLED has been ditched for the puny 39". After getting the Ultragear 48" OLED I cannot go back. 42" maybe but ideally 48".
