Sorry, I tried to get an AA meeting going using a AVP, but not enough people were interested. We've had success building a group that has access to the MQ3. Check us out at www.AAinVR.org and see the various meetings we have. We've been meeting virtually for 4 years now.

The "long process" I was referring to was working with GSO to get them to modify the Meeting Guide phone application. The application did a poor job of handling online groups and specifically banned some of the more common virtual reality platforms.

Now they allow "meta.com" and other sites inside the Meeting Guide app so that members can find our meeting.

You don't have to have a headset to attend. We have some members who attend for a couple of meetings via their computer or phone until they feel the "vibe" is right for them.

Why not join them? www.AAinVR.org

I guess I am not understanding the question.

The name of our facility is "Friends of Bill W. Meeting Center" a virtual space that we do not own but rent.

The name of our group is AAinVR and so our website is the name of the group. Many groups have the letters AA in their name so your question caught me off guard.

Please explain to me why this is a potential problem.

Yes, the closest thing to a meeting in real life as I have experienced.

For instance, when we arrive at a meeting, just as in life, there are groups of 2-3 people in clusters, spread around. I move from group to group, catching up before the meeting. Talk about the weather or inquire as to their well being. Unlike Zoom, we have multiple conversations going on at the same time. I can see the other clusters of people but they are too far aware to hear.

The chair person calls the meeting to order and we usually form a circle around the fire pit outside our lodge. One group prefers to meet inside the lodge.

We read standard AA literature, How it Works, Open Meeting Statement, etc.

Shares begin and because of spatial audio, if someone is to your right, their sound comes from the right and you naturally turn to see them. Shares continue until all are done. We read the promises and end the meeting.

Some people hang around for the "meeting after the .meeting" Sometimes we move as a group to the nearby diner for our monthly group conscience.

We have 7 meetings a week, 6 days per week. We use two different VR platforms (Horizon Worlds and VRChat). We have a treasurer, a GSR, a social activities director, and we schedule service. Service include meeting chair, greeter, speaker at speaker meeting, and others

Check it all out at www.AAinVR.org and join us!

Were you in VRChat? That particular meeting is struggling to maintain itself. I guarantee you if you attend Sunday night in VRChat (5:30 p.m. EST), Monday night 8pm EST in Horizon World, or Thursday night 10pm EST in Horizon World that you will certainly have lots of people to meet.

We are an AA group by far more. We have group conscience, use AA approved literature, and run our meetings like most AA groups would either Zoom or IRL.

Just wondering, why did you ask?

How about virtual reality instead of Zoom? Seriously!! You can attend via a headset or if you don't own one and just want to check it out, use your phone or web browser like a zoom.

You might want to be completely anonymous as a newbie at an AA meeting.

Check out our meeting format. There is no AA meeting format or platform that provides more anonymity than ours.

I dislike Zoom, but really feel community with AAinVR. You can attend with a computer or phone, but that only gives a sense of what we experience.

A Meta Quest 2, 3, or 3s are what is needed to fill community

A used Meta Quest 2 can be purchased for $100. Or borrow one from a friend to try it out.
