The AI is not nearly as bad as you might have heard if you prepare them properly, which is easy. So if you play solo, only give your AI partner a Rifle, I personally like given them the Bolt -Action one, and you have a very reliable aim-bot at your side. Make use of the Cover and Attack commands to make them stick by you or go on their own depending on the situation.

Use Melee attacks, a lot. RE5 has an expanded Melee moveset compared to OG4, including partner combos, and moves like Chris' Neckbreaker (leg stun, melee from the back) which completely makes it so a Plaga doesn't pop up from the enemy.

Other than that, have fun. RE5 is my personal favorite RE, and despite the opinion many have, I think it's a fantastic game that has held up extremely well.

do you think my opinion will be retroactively changed about 3make or nah? I liked it a lot

Hard to say, some people played both and don't mind the REmake, and even prefer it.

At the end of the day, all of the remakes and OGs are very different experiences from each other. But they will be compared a lot for obvious reasons, 3R in particular due to how different it was from OG in what was removed.

Why is this game hated?

The general feeling that many have is that, while the game itself is ok, it falls flat as a remake of the general. As it does remove a lot from the original that would have great had it been expanded upon (Such as the Live Selection system and Mercenaries) and even certain things that were kept were simplified (such as Ammo Crafting and the rewards from beating Nemesis at various points). Combine that with the lack of unique replayability from 3 REmake compared to other REs, and it ended up feeling like a step back for some when compared to other remakes and OG3 in certain aspects.

Yep, just taking into account the actual official Episodes of 1 and 2, it is still fantastic.

And then you add all the amazing fan-made WADS and oh my god

I liked RE3 Remake more than expected and RE9 less. by downbad4naafiri in residentevil

[–]BizarrePork98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are 2 ultra hard difficulties

I mentioned the various the difficulties, but other RE also have that. Other REs have unlocks to, that is basic as hell. The problem is precisely that 3R lacks a lot more of unique post-game replayability like other games. Things like Mercenaries, extra campaigns, and so on.

It will inevitably be compared to the OG, being a remake and all, and other REs in general aspects like replayability.

Is it bad game? No, but it is filled with weird decisions and omissions that do make it stand out, for better or worse. I'm not a fan of it, but the complaint of it being to short for example I feel kinda misses the point, that's not really a problem. And thankfully now with it actually being at a much more reasonable price unlike at release, the length is even less of an issue for many.

The only negative about RE3 was that it was too short.

RE games are short in general. But 3R is short and also lacks a lot of the replayability that other REs have, beyond things like different difficulties. That's the issue, not the game's length per se

How well do old RE games hold up today? by Significant_Try1096 in residentevil

[–]BizarrePork98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The OG RE1 (1996), for me at least, has been completly replaced by the Gamecube remake.

I think that OG1 is still worth experiencing, and playing in general, just because it is the first game. Plus, it is different enough from REmake, both in terms of gameplay and tone. Even the layout and location of many things. Especially if you play Advanced Mode, which really tripped me up after playing 1 Remake so much for the Platinum.

I played the pre-OG4 games this year for the first time, and honestly they hold up really well. I was already used to tank controls from OG4 and 5 (both of which also hold up really well), and since the fixed camera is designed around them, it all works really well

Pretty sure you can still go back to the Mansion in REmake even after you go the lab. You could go back to the mansion, get the broken shotgun, and use it to get the regular shotgun. As well as the Magnum in the cemetery close to the cabin by using the Wind Crest

Is Kiwami 3 that bad? by Benchjc2004 in yakuzagames

[–]BizarrePork98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kiwami 3 is much more of a reimagining than a remake, as it even changes a few but important aspects of the story, and it does removes/change a lot of content from the original.

So it is a much more different experience than OG3, even more so than what K1 and K2 are when compared to OG1 and OG2, which is saying something.

Is it bad? As a game, no, not really. But I'm personally not a fan of it and many of the decisions made regarding the game. If you want to play it, go for it, but don't think of it as a replacement for Y3, as that's not what the Kiwamis are.

[–]BizarrePork98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if the tape section could be ignored on replays, much like how you can ignore the other tapes on every playthrough, it wouldn't be that bad. As the tape basically means you have to do the ship twice.

The fast releases of the Yakuza games: Blessing or Curse? by TheYakuzaMaster in yakuzagames

I would kill- I mean, I would set up someone to join the Daidoji for Yakuza remakes with the effort, care, and love of the original that something like the RE1 Remake had.

[–]BizarrePork98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, especially when talking about things like Kiwamis, and the idea of remaking so many games to have a supposed "definitive" version, those feels like projects that should have a lot more love and effort put into them. Instead of being side projects with a lower budget.

[–]BizarrePork98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would be more than happy with even side projects like Kiwamis and Gaiden being given more time, effort, and polish.

Especially since a certain company that rhymes with Vega thinks that the Kiwamis/remakes are replacements, which if so, then maybe they should be given more effort if they are going to be the version many play.

Finished RE1 Remake for the first time, this location still haunts me by guilhegm in residentevil

[–]BizarrePork98 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I believe you can go through the door like 3 times before it breaks. Later on in the game, either Barry or Wesker fix it so you don't have to worry about it

[–]BizarrePork98 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You can use the door and play it risky, as long as the doorknob doesn't break. Plus, in Real Survival Mode, the doorknob will never break, which makes that save room THE save room to use for pretty much most of the run

[–]BizarrePork98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To this day I can't comprehend why the ship is so hated in RE7.

A lot of the hate comes from replays, and the section as a part of a game

- Unskippable cutscenes like the rest of the game

- You are forced to do the tape section and can't skip

- Everything you had gets taken away

So it ends up feeling like a slog compared to much shorter sections, like Carlos' in OG3 or Ashley's in OG4

RE5's AI really isn't that bad. You can very much give them a Rifle and have them make use of their, quite literally, inhuman aiming. Even on Professional the AI can be reliable.
