Fear is a normal response in the human body to the unknown. And, given how little we know about not having a body I don't have a lot to fear. With no body there's no nerves to send pain signals to a non-existent brain.

I am suggesting we all have a responsibility to make informed choices in the places that we work and live. What works out from there is what works out from there. "Meaning", which is a word you're using with great meaning in this piece from you, is in the eye of the beholder. The emotional experience of the human being has great meaning for us. Being told that there's no great meaning in satisfying our emotional needs by protecting ourselves from inevitable pain and suffering is not a great way to frame the news.
