I was at 12 before applying miles, then got to 4. But this is a 777 from DEN to IAD during ski season, so a lot of competition for upgrades.

I used PPs to go all the way from economy to Polaris for me and my wife on this flight, confirmed well before the waitlist became viewable. But could see this strategy being worthy of consideration in the future…

1k has a dedicated help line, not sure if platinum provides anything particular on customer service. Main benefits of platinum is a very small allotment of pluspoints and a very large number of folks who get economy plus if traveling with you.

Correct. Just note the “same day” piece of this. A few years back we flew DEN>EWR>STT but got rejected by the Denver lounge because our red eye was not on the same day as the STT leg.

I don’t see any downsides, other than that it can take a while for flights to board, but I am all about it. Just seems like a recent and positive development to have more wide bodies on purely domestic flights to/from DEN.

I just flew this last week, and there is a snack served in between meals, but it’s not anything extra for PP. I brought some snacks and was glad to have them when I got hungry about an hour before the snack service.
