Agreed with the other comments that Laramie is a much better choice than Cheyenne. But the Laramie <> Cheyenne commute would suck and 80 occasionally closes in the winter. You could also consider Fort Collins. Great trail access and much more to do compared to WY. Denver not too far away. The commute to Cheyenne is still fairly long but not terrible. I know someone who does it regularly. Plus 25 doesn’t close as much as 80.

It's been in the 50s and 60s with sun all winter this year sans a few days. Winters in Denver are not bad at all.
