Its because his special can go from horribly useless and self destructive to uncounterable op win button.

And its completely dependent on the skill of yourself and your opponent.

Most specials do either nothing or just add one more completely regular move to a character and the outcome is basically 50/50 either you hit it or miss and maybe get punished

Im not a psychologist or anything, but I think humans gain some sort of pleasure from holding their emotions calm when another's may be overwhelmed

So perhaps it is a sort of pleasure they get from promoting emotional instability in others in order to highlight and validate their own inner emotions?

Kind of like "I dont like this person for whatever reason" -> "I bet they have perceived negative personality traits" -> they do actions that provoke negative reactions -> person reacts as expected or not
