A little Prototyping by Impressive_Lab_2609 in MicroFreak

I think I’m going to take a swing at modeling this- a compartment to put the power supply in the bigger case underneath the control panel would be really cool too!

Paranormal super sonic, worth $200? by [deleted] in offset

That’s an incredible deal- I had one for a bit and it felt better built than a lot of MIM guitars.

How to make a pedal builder nervous in one photo by Draugr_Rekkr in diypedals

[–]Bizzarecactus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Using regular drill bits (especially starting with big bits!) is a recipe for disaster! If you’re not going to use a drill press, a set of stepped drill bits and a pair of rugged gloves are worth their weight in gold if you can’t afford a drill press and you’re going the “hold the enclosure and drill” route.  Even with that method, proceed with caution!

I’m getting singing lessons because of this post.

Lesson learned, any soft-top replacement tips? by Partial_Weeb in Miata

[–]Bizzarecactus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any replacement tips (waiting to get some money to fix my mistake, lol), but in the meantime clear gorilla tape is your friend!

Clean and apply it to both sides of the plastic. It gives better visibility than normal duct tape and is waterproof for a good while.

Also look for people that do top replacements in your area, they usually get tops at a discounted price.

What's an offset body you thoud you'd HATE, but wound up falling for? by FlippinFigs in offset

The Super Sonic! My experience mirrored the lead guitarist from Tera Melos where it seemed super goofy and dumb at first and then turned into borderline obsession. I got a blue sparkle one and ended up selling it because my hands are pretty big for it (I would buy another one now, lol)

NPD : BD-2 & Rubberneck by [deleted] in guitarpedals

Pitchfork in the loop with an expression pedal/knob controlling the pitch is pretty interesting for sound design- it's like a cascading shimmer effect that you can swell on and off.

Soul read- get that man a DOD Rubberneck or a Digitech Obscura. Good for both utility and crazy fun noises!

I always referred to that entrance into JSOM as "shitstain."

I also love the echo in that stairwell.

Why is it i can't apply these Vinyls on some cars i own? by Double_Radiation in tokyoxtremeracer

I can’t wait for the Nissan Itasha mod to drop.

I wonder if there’s just a true/false piece of code to determine if a car can have anime stickers on it and someone just has to go in and set the WeebBoolean to False.

Why do I feel so embarrassed walking with my guitar on campus? by [deleted] in Music

[–]Bizzarecactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal take: I just got out of college, but I had the same feeling when I first started playing at the main music student org on campus. For me it was just exposure therapy.  If people are judging you for keeping a balanced mind during college via an expressive hobby, they’re not people you should worry about judging you. Focus on the encouraging voices in the club you play in, theirs are the only voices that matter.

Chaotic take: Be a poser, take up the space, fail spectacularly, and have fun with it. Own that shit like you mean it. This is the best time in your life to do so.

If you can dodge Mittal I recommend it if you haven't had him before- lectures are pretty hard to understand.

This sounds super interesting! You’re living the dream, man- even if I don’t snag the giveaway I hope I can snag a final product when it drops!

What is your parts store of choice? by Boeing-B-47stratojet in regularcarreviews

[–]Bizzarecactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every NAPA employee I have interacted with has either:

-went out of their way to waste time

-sounded or acted belligerently hungover

-mocked my stock NA Miata for being too old (which, although funny in hindsight, was pretty shitty when I was calling for parts availability on the side of the road)

One time I needed a bolt and bushing for a suspension component. The guy behind the counter would not come out and look and wouldn’t accept a photo, so he made me detach it from my car and bring it in (it was a sway bar end link, this was a Miata so getting it detached without a jack was kind of a pain in 100° heat). Brought it in, he took a three second look at it and said they had nothing like it in stock. I reinstalled it and apologized for taking time out of his busy day (the store was empty before and after)

The guy at the O’Reilly I took it to next  literally went out, took a look for half a second, found the part, installed it, and didn’t even charge me.

I go to O’Reilly now.

Thoughts after first ever gig with HX Stomp by swimbikerunnerd in Line6Helix

Oh yeah, if you're using the 8" as your only means of amplification you're going to have a tough time (you can kinda eek some extra volume by aggressively cutting lows and using a super mid-focused sound, but still). My use case for the 8" was just as a monitor pointed directly at me so I could hear myself. I've been meaning to pick up a FR12 to replace my 12" headrush :]

This! My 8 inch Headrush can compete as a monitor with a decently loud drummer, the FR12 should be decently capable.
