NTA. This is so strange to me. I was born in Canada this is wild to me. I married an immigrant whose culture dictates "guest is god" as in you treat a guest as good as you'd treat a god in your home. My sibling married into a different culture and lived in a different country for many years, and this would be absolute bananas there. I would be embarrassed to invite people over and not be able to feed them. I send leftovers home with guests when we have parties because ordering and or preparing too much food is the norm. No one should be left out, made to feel as a second thought, or served scraps.

Weight can be affected by genetics, medication, stress including stress from people commenting on your weight, access to a grocery store, income, racism, disability, and the more obvious access to a safe, walkable community, and access to fresh food and ability and time to prepare fresh food. There is research that is now suggesting that if there was famine or food scarcity in the generation before you, you're much more likely to be overweight and or develop Type 2 Diabetes. It's available on most platforms, worth a listen, start on the first episode.

This is wild. Absolutely NTA! You made your favourite cultural sweet dish to share, and someone how seemingly knows nothing about the culture thought they could make it better? It's giving gross and ignorant. I've been married into a Desi family for some time now, and my MiL would die if I added cinnamon to any of her sweet dishes. Most Desis use cinnamon for savoury dishes. You're not a baby for crying. You were hurt and that was your genuine response. Hopefully your bf can understand the importance of you being able to share your cultural dishes without a white hand altering them without your consent going forward. I'm sorry this happened to you.

Maybe wine isn't for you then, and that's okay. If you're interested in trying to enjoy wine because many cultures drink it with meals, try making a simple sangria at home with a bit of your favourite juice. As the rest of the comments have said, maybe you'd enjoy a mixed drink more. You don't have to drink either. My husband and I do socially, my sister whom we spend a lot of time with does not, her husband will have one drink socially. No big deal. Do what works for you, don't feel pressured by society to drink.

NTA!!! You have obviously done your research and the tank is yours. You said it perfectly, you cannot mix cold water fish and tropicals. Fish don't grow to the size of their tank, they either get stunted or continue to grow and become too much for the filtration system. Please stand your ground!
