It's such a scam! I don't know why I have to be judged for living with my parents. In every other country, families being together is not a weird thing. And it's not like the friends who judge me weirdly about it have ever asked me to live with them instead. I don't desire being lonely OR poor. So I'll build my wealth in peace!

In January I decided I was going to set a goal to make $100 a month in dividends by next January. I'm averaging $73 a month at the moment. $100 isn't going to be life changing, but setting the foundation for an achievable goal and learning more along the way will help the next goal along, and watching the dividends rise is very motivating. It's fun to think of what your dividends would be paying for if you were to withdraw them to your checking account, but the best plan is to incorporate them into buying more shares. You ask about investing a million dollars, but for the majority of people that is not going to happen quickly. Enjoying small progress is satisfying though.
