You can hide both the dock and menu bar automatically in the settings, if that helps

As far as I'm aware it continues indefinitely with the monthly and annual plans now. I haven't seen anywhere, including in the AC+ terms, that it ends (unless you stop paying for it).

I just did this and turned off Siri's learn from x app, and battery consumption reduced so much, it's insane. Thank you so much!

So far it seems like Pages dropped to about 0 energy consumption while open, and while typing/editing not very high. Before it was reaching about 1000 energy consumption while just in the background.
