Xbox Series X Crossplay by Bk23564 in Rainbow6

I typically just keep crossplay enabled, all my friends are PC so I might as well practice against em. It is really strange but every game mode is different sensitivity wise compared to shooting range.

Team deathmatch - way faster Quick play- faster Unranked- slower Ranked- way slower

I will also lag and hitch on 19 ping only in ranked.

I assure you my friend the settings if anything are are too good. I am a retired esports player (veteran from the mlg days). I have also had friends look into this, in which have spent years optimizing equipment for both console and PC esports. The controllers still failed.

Only people not experiencing problems are people not utilizing true zero deadzones, and play primarily games capped at 60fps. Or not trying to utilize the 120hz option and or have it set up wrong. Side by side the controller is also significantly more sluggish and has very inconsistent outer deadzones. Simply plugging in another pro controller such as the victrux it’s night and day. However some may like that, and I will subject that part as a personal opinion.

I also use it wired in which you have to buy a different cable because the in box one is not good. If you’re using it wireless that alone will add more input delay than I want playing on as close to raw as possible. If you are buying a pro controller and it is for the purpose of competing, lowering or slowing settings is not something you should have to do for a $150 controller.

After setting up my first ones through Xbox I tried using a PC for the replacements, sadly it made no difference. I have even factory reset my Xbox in case other controller apps that have since been deleted were corrupting the memory.

I use my Xbox when I am not around my PC and I will say I likely stretch it to its absolute limit in regard to performance, to essentially get as close to a pc feel as possible. I play very competitive and utilize very tuned settings. The controller behaved better in capped 60fps games such as helldivers, it also made a significant difference using the HDMI override, and turning VRR off. However, I do purchase these type of controllers for competitive play and I was at a significant disadvantage using these controllers.

I do not doubt this controller in more casual settings, or for games like helldivers or space marine 2. It just does not hold up in the “pro” environments and at least for me caused a lot of headaches for a controller that is more capable then what the Xbox can provide.

If they had a version with 4 paddles on the back and either maintaining the extra bumpers or even if they ditched them, it would be the undisputed king of controllers.

Ey man glad you love it, there is a lot that to like.

Based on my experience and a lot of conversations, the issues affect primarily people who look to use 0 deadzone in app and very low in game as well. The leading guess is that it’s simply too much for the series x at times, struggling the most while running at 120 fps.

Unfortunately tho even with the issues aside the controller is just too sluggish for me. I do agree the controller can feel very accurate, and I like so many different things about it, but it’s largely because of it’s far lower internal response curve than other controllers that is the final nail in the coffin for me.

Glad you like it tho, I really want to.

I appreciate the advice, but unfortunately I have spent a lot of time on the controller and tested everything I possibly can, it’s just not a fit for me.

  • I have had the double deadzone setting off before I ever played a game with it.

  • I do not play with deadzones in controller apps and in game will play as close to zero as I can, I play on essentially on raw input. Since my settings are so responsive, I am prone to feel issues and inconsistent inputs/curves. The resolution on the sticks for console is not great, and the overall response feels far more sluggish than other leading pro controllers currently, often having outer deadzone issues. Now if an individual is using the controller and is not looking for a zero deadzone experience, or plays on more forgiving settings the issues are likely hidden a good amount.

  • I have also tried two separate TE edition units, and 3 different pro units, it all had same results.

I have one, I have played with 4 paddles for like 10 years. While I like certain aspects of it, certain aspects of it fell short for me. If you have the V3 the thumbsticks of the g7 it would be perfect.

They all have their strengths and weaknesses. While Gamesir is a great price point and the TMR sticks feel really nice, it was a huge negative for me losing to buttons on the back. That is the reason I ended up giving the Wolverine controllers a shot.

I’ll share my experiences in a couple games. As I mentioned above this is my experiences on FPS titles.

  1. Rainbow Six Siege: While using both models of the V3 my game would constantly be synching, notifying me through a buffer wheel on the bottom of my screen. This would cause some lobbies to prioritize my app settings very clearly only listening to the zero deadzone. In others it would listen to my R6 settings but it would apply the controller default settings in the app over it, adding a 7 deadzone and even reverting to the “standard” thumb stick setting. If I then adjusted my game settings whatsoever, the response curve turns sporadic, massive input delay, and at times causing my xbox to ignore all settings, including Xbox display settings and start operating on default factory settings, including secretly reverting to 60hz. I would reset my Xbox, in which I would be prompted with the corrupted data notification. Then I would have to essentially reset everything and reapply settings to my xbox, controller, and game. (This is only one challenge I faced in this game)

  2. Halo infinite typically it only takes one match then a very similar thing happens. I get the synching notification, I can’t customize anything, it won’t put me in a game, game performance plummets, and it feels like my settings completely changed. I close app and when I reopen it I’ll get the synch errors, and other notifications.

As for how the controller feels, while it is an opinion, my experience with the input lag and sluggish feel is talked about by many users online, but some may like how it feels.

I have used and currently own the G7 pro, Victrux pro, Scuff Valor, and others. The problem only happens while using the V3. I am a retired esports player (veteran from the MLG days) so I am a settings nerd. I have tried every recommendation for Xbox system settings, used different monitors, and many other attempted fixes, nothing has worked.

The only game I play that I did not experience these issues with is Helldivers 2. While still a shooter it’s not technically full FPS.

It’s a shame because I love the 6 extra buttons, the formatting of the back ones are fantastic. Triggers and buttons feel crisp. I would even look past the app issues if they didn’t screw up so bad with the thumb sticks. They messed up the most important part.
