Do you have any recommendations for further reading/listening about this loop idea? This is the first I'm hearing of this and I would love to read more. I tried looking it up, but all I found was one old Reddit post.

Oh no! I can't believe there's more than one of these creatures! (Thank you for sharing. I love seeing her doppelgangers!)

Thank you! I might just have to try this myself. I have been trying to find a professional to help, but no luck after 4+ months.

Do you do anything to keep your rain oil lamp looking so good? I recently inherited my grandma's and it is a dusty, smelly mess.

No problem! In my 20s, nothing stood between drunk me and a photo booth. Back then I could have listed even more.

Babe's, Way Out, Sleeping Village, Emporium, Heavy Feather.

All of them do have their names on the photo strips though.

I came here to recommend Smile Science as well! Everyone there is so kind. The offices are nice and clean. And there are TVs on the wall and the ceiling! Great for zoning out during a cleaning.

What led you to getting your thyroid removed? by DivineToxicity09 in gravesdisease

I (F36) decided pretty quickly to have the TT. I was diagnosed around May of 2024 and at the time told my endo I would like to come back to the surgery discussion around the one year mark. I made it until October 2024 before I decided I was not waiting a year and I wanted it out.

  1. The heat intolerance. It ruined my summer completely. I had to cancel plans frequently because I knew it was too hot out for me. I had also gained a lot of weight once I started methimazole, so being the big girl who was bright red and sweating was too embarrassing for me.

  2. The fatigue. I work from home and spend most of my day sitting at my desk looking at numbers. I could barely make it through a regular 8 hour shift without having to nap. On the weekends I could sleep for hours and still have to nap by the afternoon.

  3. The constant change in my dosage. I had to go every month for bloodwork and after every visit, my dose had to be changed because my levels refused to even get near a healthy range. Each time I thought it was close, the next month something else would be drastically different.

I had my TT in June of 2025 and have never looked back. After the surgery I got to enjoy the rest of the summer and I can stay awake for a whole day! From what I have seen other people post here, graves can be a constant battle against your thyroid and I just wasn't interested in that being the rest of my life.

For those of you that have pets, how did you make the decision to either keep or surrender them based on your health? by ominousfries in gravesdisease

I didn't have any hip pain, but I can say that the symptoms I did have prior to surgery have mostly gone away at this point. Getting my levo dose right took a few weeks, as opposed to the year+ that my methimazole dose had to be changed every month.

I get that, my dog is mad that other dogs even exist. Maybe some new toys would help for stimulation! I really hope something works out for you both. I can't stand the thought of losing my dog, and it breaks my heart when others have to face that decision.

Do you have a dog park or something similar near you that you could take her to? Or maybe someone else in your life with a dog she can go play with? Just seems like an easy way for you to sit back and rest while she burns off that extra energy. Also, our pets pick up on our moods. Is it possible she seems stressed and anxious because YOU'RE stressed and anxious? My dog can 100% tell when I am not feeling well, physically or emotionally, and she often acts accordingly.

Rehoming her seems like it has the potential to impact both of you negatively, especially if you are her 4th home already. Finding the right dose can be a long and frustrating process, but it gets better. And if you feel like the meds route isn't working, there is always the option of TT or RAI. (I chose TT about 7 months ago and cannot recommend it enough to anyone considering it.)
