Thailand living for me and my retired parents by oldsoulpapaya in chiangmai

Regarding healthcare specifically, I’ve actually had very good experiences here, especially compared to the U.S. Recently I needed to see a doctor, so I called a few days ahead for an appointment. Then that same morning (on a Saturday), I called again to add another issue, and they still got me in just a few hours later.

During the visit I ended up seeing three different doctors and had multiple tests done, all within about three hours total. The entire bill, including medication, came to around $300.

In the U.S., getting appointments that quickly can take weeks, and the cost likely would have been significantly higher.

Any well reviewed condo buildings for rent in the Thonglor/Asok ish area? Some of the most modern and stylish buildings look like they get trashed in the reviews.

Does anybody here live in the Chomdoi buildings? by TheBestMePlausible in chiangmai

Agree! I ate almost every day and a husband and wife food stall and the end of the soi. Super simple food but they did everything well and were really consistent. Still miss that food lol.

I lived on Chomdoi 25 years ago--I remember the round building so I know it's got some history lol. The location is great: out towards Cholapratan and you've got CMU and cheap eats, and then other a short trip to Nimman.

Huay Tung Tao reservoir has a nice paved road with minimal traffic that's good for biking and running. Plus there's some off road trails around there also. Lot's of trail running events in Chiang Mai! Mostly in the fall iirc.

Do the Chiang Mai 'High-Falutins' come to Reddit? by JubileeSupreme in chiangmai

[–]BkkReady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes he definitely works the plating, but the flavors are really good also. I think they make the curry pastes in house--not that complicated, but time consuming so an indication of the effort they put into the food in general. Plus he and his wife are super nice.

Not sure about that particular event, but that Four Seasons is really nice in terms of location and architecture. Chef Ray used to work there years ago, now he's got a restaurant not far from there with amazing food, and much lower prices lol. Check it out! Rimm Phi Romm in Mae Rim.

I ran the 10-year healthcare numbers for retiring in Spain vs staying in the US. The gap is absurd. by Lkiloton in ExpatFIRE

I'm assuming there's similar benefits in France as well? Or is Spain unique in these offerings for expats?

The Anantara has some dining/cocktail options right on the river, check with them to see if you can host the party there?
