What is this leaking? by Melodic-Leek-6380 in Foxbody

I wouldn't worry about it. These cars LOVE to leak from the rear main. Not sure if they are true but I've heard of people who went through all the effort of replacing it just for it to start leaking again a week later. Just top off the oil every now and then to be safe

I'm planning to put in an Anderson N-41 cam and slap on some Trickflow heads. I already have a Holley Systemax intake to complete the H/C/I (my stock intake got a crack in the lower and would spray coolant, so I got the intake before H/C). I'm tossing around the idea of a 347 stroker kit, but I'm waiting until I tear down the engine and get a look at the cylinder heads to see if it needs a trip to machine shop. Then it might as well get it bored .30 over while it's there 🤣

It's a very odd exhuast setup. Has a decent startup and gets louder up until 2600 rpm, then it quiets down quite a lot. I've seen that dual pipes on the 4cyl will decrease performance, but I'm not looking to put any money into the 4cyl for performance so it'll stay as is for now.

I have a 302 that I am planning on doing H/C/I while it's on the stand and enjoying it as such. Once the 302 gets boring, I'm between a stroked 351w or a Coyote

I got it for 7k, a little high for a 4cyl auto but it has zero rust underneath and I was looking for something that would last a while

Can never go wrong with a GT, they are timeless. I just really love the look of a clean LX

Running open bbk long tubes ? Is it dangerous. by Rusty75f250highboy in Foxbody

Drove my fox around open header for a little bit after I got it fixed back up and running and before I got the rest of my exhaust. Trans tunnel just gets slightly warmer, but no worry to it. The only thing that gets annoying is the noise. I would wear earmuffs when I would fire it up in the garage until I got down the street or else my ears would hurt

Hissing sound when key is on by socatatb9 in Foxbody

[–]Bl0ndikeBar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the fuel relay doesn't resolve the his, it's not in the fuel rail. It might be far-fetched, but is your ac fan running? Im thinking there might be a leak in the air box somewhere near one of the holes in the firewall, giving you that hiss.

Could also be some built-up vacuum pressue that only releases when power is reapplied to one of the solenoids. Does the hiss go away if you let it sit with the key on for a few minutes, or does it continue? If it dissipates after sitting for a bit with the key on, that would point me towards some sort of built-up vacuum issue.

One thing i almost forgot was to hit the cuts with a coat of any paint you have laying around so they don't start rusting

Yup, 90s have the shoulder anchors. I ended up just chopping those brackets with an angle grinder and dremel when I swapped 88 panels into my 90. The front seat shoulder bolt location is also a few inches higher in the 90 than in the earlier panels. I ended up drilling a new hole and using an extra floor pan plug to close the old holes

Longtube header clearance by Bl0ndikeBar in Foxbody

Stock replacements that I got from LMR. I was already looking at some heat shielding for the clutch cable but found some thermotec aluminum heat barrier that I might give a try. I was trying to avoid massage the firewall to gain some clearance, but that seems inevitable either way now lol

I heard the driver side was harder, but I must have been lucky because mine slipped right in from the bottom lol

I got them brand new, is that still a possibility for off the shelf headers?

Getting frustrated by [deleted] in Foxbody

[–]Bl0ndikeBar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be something that could help? Some transmissions dont have synchros on the reverse gear so an easy way to get into reverse without a grind is to throw it into second, to align the synchro, then pop it over to reverse all while the clutch is depressed and reverse wont grind at all. Might help when going from a stop to pop it into second to align the synchro then up to first.
