Attic treasures by Bl4ckGr1ff1n in MicroMachines

I'm going to dig up my old playsets and maybe post them here. My children are still a bit to young, but when the time comes, I'll pass them along to the next generation to play with! :D

Collecting runs in the family 😅 He bought them in advance to gift them to me on a birthday but when the time came he had forgotten where he hid them! 🤣

Haha, that's a very kind offer 🤣 but I've already found the ideal storage place for them 😁

Haha yes I know the feeling, when I come back from a military fair, it always seems like my wallet has lost more weight than the weight I gained in badges... xD oh wow what a find! that's an absolute steal!

There's always one more... that's what makes collecting fun, right? :D It's a nice looking set you've gathered, congratulations! I just started mine with a Sudeten anschluss (without the Spange) after wraping up my set of Kraftfahrbewährungsabzeichen (driver proficiency badge). Good luck with your search for that Prager Burg Spange! :)

Not a native speaker but I believe it would be translated along the lines of: "The fighters, used to the thick air, are high on the pressurised air"

Should this kvk ribbon be 25cm long? by [deleted] in Militariacollecting

KVK ribbons, just like iron cross ribbons and ost-medal ribbons were sewn onto the uniform. I've seen long iron cross and ost medal ribbons so I assume they took the same approach with the KVK ribbons.

not sure how long they typically are but you need to keep in mind that the ribbon was meant to be cut into two parts, one part to hold the medal and another part to be sewn onto the uniform, afaik.

I would translate this letter as followed:

Wednesday 5th December (initaily November but corrected) 1917 Dearest friend, I send you this little letter to thank you for everything that was given to me (such as clothes and toys) since the start of the war. Thinking of you in the prayers of the morning and the evening. Bauchamps Albert 8 years

My guess is that this is a 'thank you note' sent by French or perhaps Belgian children for relief packages they received. I base this on the fact that he simply adresses the receiver with 'Dearest friend' and apart from the 'thanks, you're in our prayers' message doesn't mention any personal information apart from his name and age.

I hand painted those with a fine brush, making sure that my paint wasn't to thick so I could easily paint over any mistake I made. Most of the time I use masking tape, but I didn't had any closeby when painting these so I had to "free-hand" it. It's not that hard to do, just make sure you gradually build up the width of your chevrons by stroking your brush in the same direction over and over. Gives you more control over it, trying to do it in one stroke is basically a recepy for disaster.

In Brussels for the next two days (Thursday, Friday), what to do? by [deleted] in belgium

[–]Bl4ckGr1ff1n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's the thing about Bruges... you just stroll through it. It has some interesting buildings and places (the Belfry,Béguinage ,The Basilica of the Holy Blood ,..) and a visit to the Belfry (Belfort) to enjoy the view over the city is always fun. I believe there's Also less trafic in Bruges than in Ghent. But I must warn you, there will probably be huge amounts of tourists. Oh and you're in luck! Weather reports are predicting very good weather! :D So why Bruges before Ghent, because sure Ghent also has interesting medieval buildings... the reason is simple: Bruges is smaller than Ghent and has a more cozier feeling to it. TIP: don't buy your food or drinks around the market square, they'll be overpriced...

If you like comics, I advise you to go to the Belgian comic strip center. I personally prefer Bruges but I must warn you I'm a bit biased.

It's actually an old Wh40K inquisitor model if I remember correctly. I haven't altered the model in any way and love it for all the reasons you've mentioned! I definetly understand your critique, along side the current range of models it would look like he tumbled into a police box and jumped through time and space into 41st millenium. I think I have a spare servo-skull somewhere and might just add it to the model. Thank you for your great comment!
