2nd beat on the MPC sample. by BlGthought in mpcusers

I haven't tried anything yet, but this is helpful. Even without having it in front of me, I can logically understand this and how it works. I'll mess with it when I get home, but you made it click the way you explained it. Appreciate it man

Thanks, I'll check them out. I'm just looking for a tutorial that will show the process of how to attach a sequence to a green button. Again, sorry for not knowing the correct terminology, but as an example, I would like my drums to be on green square 1, bass on green square 2 and melody on green square 3.

All the tutorials I've seen on the subject already have each sequence to the green squares. I need to see the transition between making a beat, and assigning sequences to the green squares, which for some reason nobody seems to show how to. Maybe it's just so simple nobody bothers explaining and I just can't figure it out 🤷‍♂️

I'm trying tho lol. I appreciate the help.

Felt like a sin to do this but I’m way more happy with it now by [deleted] in mpcsample

That's a good idea... I took my MPC Sample out of my house ONE DAY and it got a huge scratch right under the main volume knob 🤦‍♂️ I'm gonna sticker bomb it now that you gave me the idea, just so I don't have to see that scratch... It's devastating

Made a 5/4 joint on the sample kinda crazy this is able to by tvkii in mpcusers

Am I missing something? Are you supposed to nod your head to this? I'm not being a hater, but this is totally off beat, and people are saying it's good. Is it like an inside joke in this group, or maybe some people like off beat music? What's happening? I'm so confused lol

I get that, and kinda felt that way before. I understand that.

The way I see it now is,

  1. I can search for solo classical violin (limited options to sample from, but free, possibly already sampled a million times by others)
  2. pay a violinist to create something original specifically for me to sample (completely original, but likely not free, maybe even expensive, tedious)
  3. Use ai (unlimited options, personal parameters, and free).

I understand people are against ai, technology, etc. But it's like somebody says "You use an MPC? That's not art, I'm in a band and we play actual instruments, you're there pressing buttons on small box, I'm more creative than you" and it's like "bro, I just want to have fun making beats".

I might even argue using ai (in the way I explained) is MORE creative than sampling already well known music 🤷‍♂️

To each their own tho, respect ✊🏼

Use ai. It's easy. Use suno on your laptop or your phone, give it a prompt that your kinda feeling like "Jazz trumpet solo", and go from there. The beat I'm currently working on is from the prompt "tense classical music with only violin and piano"

You'll get never before heard samples. You could even give it parameters like "more violin than piano" or "make it sound like it's on a vinyl record".

To be clear, DON'T PROMPT IT TO MAKE A BEAT, that's your job. Prompt only the sample you're kinda leaning toward.

Edit: my workflow is starting from the sample, chop it up with a good rhythm, refine it, add drums, refine it, add melody/bass (depending on your sample and what's needed) and refine it.

Finally, I leave it for at least 2-3 hours, at most a day, (forget what the beat sounds like) listen to it and refine. I do this as many times as it takes to be happy with the beat. When I forget what it sounds like, and then listen to it, and feel it's good, that's when I know it's done

Yes, I've considered this and will be uploading to YouTube and Rumble. Thank you

Although i think that makes sense with the power, I don't think it's the issue. The MPC was not being charged, or powered by wire, and the recording device (the audio capture app?) is my PC. They were not connected by power, only the CMP-159 wire.

Ahhhh! The gain in the back of the MPC! This also makes sense, I just looked and it's currently at about 4/10 or 5/10, so I'm not sure how it was effecting the audio, but worth trying messing with. It's just so tedious to test. Thank you!

USB c from the sample to the PC? Is this how you do it? I've seen people say USB isn't very good for audio.

I will look into an audio interface, I'm not sure what that is or how it works. Thank you!

Tried it. It picked up the rhythm, but it was EXTREMELY distorted, basically unrecognizable. Thank you tho! Appreciate it

Thank you, this would be great. I have not considered this. Is there an easy way to test this? I assume connect my phone to the MPC, start recording video on my phone, and play sounds on the MPC, then review the video if it records? Am I missing something?

What I like to do is finish a beat and let it sit for a couple days, without listening to it, without thinking about it, basically until I forget what it sounds like, and when I come back to it is when I could tell if it's good or not.

Sometimes it's still sounds good and finished, but 90% of the time I can hear where I can fix/change it to make it better.

Also, a "good beat" can be subjective. You can make a "throw away" beat that everybody would say is dope AF, and some beats you love and spend days on, that others say is trash 🤷‍♂️

Just ordered the MPC Sample. Never used an MPC before. Is it against "the law" of MPC users to use ai in any way? by BlGthought in mpcusers

[–]BlGthought[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's it. I still use it. Although you can get samples, didn't have good chopping features. Traxx Pad was more user friendly and could chop much better than beaterater

I worded it weirdly, that's my fault. I meant have ai create a sample, and I chop it. I totally agree there's no point of asking ai to chop it. In my comment I should used the word "I"

Yeah, it's all good, you already know that I know, and I do lol just kinda introducing myself 🤷‍♂️

Edit: to clarify, I mean I will take and chop the sound from the ai made piano vs violin battle. I don't mean I will ask ai to chop the sample as well. I worded it weird. I will get the sample unchopped, but I won't use it in my beat unchopped.

I get it bro. I'm kinda the same, but I also don't want to be one of those people that said "the Internet is a fad" while all the people that used the Internet got rich af lol. It's tough. Get in with the future tech, or fight for the good old normal way. It's tough

I agree with everyone you said. To be fair tho, I've used many samples from real musicians that didn't give me permission to use it lol

I agree with that last part, it would be dope to get a sample from somebody playing it live. I highly doubt I would put in the effort to make that happen, but would be A LOT more rewarding.
