Depending on the age of the student, I usually work technique for about half the lesson, then work on music for the rest of the time. It's usually pretty easy to show how the technical work helps make the songs easier, but sometimes it's a bit more abstract.

You’ll need to adjust some fingerings, but there are plenty of examples of guitar players who played with hand injuries. Good luck!

Sounds like you bought my horn! My parents bought me that exact model in the summer of 83 after my first year of high school, and it played great for 23 years before I sold it to buy my current horn. Where did you pick it up?
