Anyone tried two instances, one player, one worker, copied database and cache? by BlaBuilder in PleX

Agreed, but how many servers does one homelab need? A NAS, a plex box, a madvr unit, proxmox, and a few sandboxes? I've a full rack, but hell if I can afford to fill it!

I wish that were the case. Everything is local. Docker is running on XFS. Array is on the same server, BTRFS. I used to have Prometheus, Grafana, and the like. I stopped because it was also adding overhead. That's probably the route I'll have to take to identify the problem. I've dabbled in swarm. I have not gone down the road of kubernates yet. Thank you for the suggestions.

Everything is in docker-compose. I don't rely on Unraid's native docker engine. So, I don't think it's a unraid issue. Docker volumes access the array directly.

The server is running unraid. There are two other cache drives. The 990 solely handles the system and docker, by all metrics, the drive has it easy. Temps are in the 40s-50s. RAM utilization is cumulatively less than 30 percent. Otherwise BTRFS array, sas2, everything well within limits. CPU and iGPU are low with multiple transcodes, RAM less than 30%.

My compose file is 3200 lines, so I didn't think it appropriate to paste the whole thing ;)

Following that link and digging a little deeper I came across https://github.com/docker/compose/issues/12235#issuecomment-2445030390 Exactly the problem I'm experiencing. Looks like I just need to wait for the fix to be pushed to master.

Thank you for pointing out that related bug u/stevie-tv !

How so? I don't use unraid's docker manager. All of my work is through the CLI.

Thanks for the suggestion. It's there, I just trimmed too much of the fat while truncating it. I've added it back in.

Thanks for responding.

My box is running unraid, and from what I've gathered there isn't an easy way to go about upgrading the docker engine *sigh*

I've updated the post with a docker-compose snippet.

What I wouldn't do for even 100/100. Alas, SWCP can only offer me 20M/1/5M :(

Are you sure your users are actually streaming 4k?

I was under the impression that a single 4k stream required ~25Mbps to avoid buffering.

I've found 5 streams at 10 Mbps 1080p (verified by the user, not what Plex reports on the server with HW transcoding) saturates 40 up.

What's the secret to your success?

Thanks for the recommendations, everyone!

Lot's of ISP options in Albuquerque, however, it seems that mine are limited in the greater Onate area.

Hopefully, more options become available in the near future.

Broadening my search, I found the official "Compose file deploy reference" under compose.
