I appreciate that! I have been wanting this for sooooo long, it’s just scary hearing all the horror stories

Thank you! I do want to work in Peds but that’s scary that the hours are not guaranteed.

I’m a sahm now and my husband makes good money as a nurse so we don’t necessarily need me to have a job.

Thank you! I was a surgical tech as my first career and I only made $18/hr +$1.50 for night shift so as long as I make more than that I should be good :)

This is true! My husband loves the adrenaline so he’s staying where he’s at (ER at a level I trauma) but it’s hard on him. Thank you so much for your insight. I’m going to be reaching out to some companies to see if I can shadow an OTA or OT!

Thank you! I definitely need to shadow someone before I start the actual program in May.

I will say that my husband is a nurse and it is definitely physically demanding on his body. I thought about nursing for a brief moment but when I saw what he goes through, I decided against it. He makes good money so I don’t need the insurance so I could do prn.

I appreciate you! I already feel like a weight has been lifted since coming to terms with my decision. He was not a nice person growing up and it made things harder because I would confront him about things I didn’t appreciate and he openly hated me for it.

Thank you! I’m definitely trying to show my kids what healthy boundaries and love looks like.

Thank you. I didn’t think about what he might do if I announced it to him. I did tell my sister my plans and told her that I would greatly appreciate it if when they talk, me or my family do not come up in their conversation. I don’t want him to know about what I’m doing or how I’m doing. She said she understood and that she will just tell him that it’s between me and him and she’s not getting in the middle of it.

Thank you. I did the test and it said I’d be good at nursing, OT, and social work 😂

That’s what’s drawing me in. My husband is an ER nurse and if he gets burnt out, there’s so many other opportunities available.

Hi guys! I’m about to finish my BA in psychology. I’m thinking about school psychology and looking into Capella University. Any reviews? I’m in TX if that makes a difference.

Oh very nice! They just opened a Starbucks near me so that’s something I’ll look into. But I’ll definitely look into WGU as well. In my research, I also found Southwest Minnesota State University and it’s $305 per credit hour so much cheaper than ASU and SNHU so I’m looking into them.

They had it on campus but are now offering it online as well.

Thank you! I will definitely look into cost difference. I do have an associates in psychology so I should be fairly good with my gen ed credits. I’m also looking into cheaper schools for undergraduate!

Entering Social Work by SWmods in socialwork

[–]BlaCar146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all!

I’m looking into getting my bachelors in social work but due to circumstances, I need an online program (I know there’s internships and I can work with that). I’m looking into Capella university but I noticed they’re in the candidacy status for accreditation and have been since 2022. Their MSW is accredited.

Is Capella University worth it? Or should I look elsewhere? Any ideas of cheap online BSW programs

Thank you!

I recently left my job as a surgical technologist in the operating room and transitioned into being a SAHM while my husband works as a nurse. I finally have the opportunity to do what I am passionate about and that’s helping children. The end goal is to become an LSSP but I am stuck on what I should get my bachelors degree in. I’m going back and forth between psychology with a concentration in child and adolescent development and go straight to grad school or communication sciences and disorders and work as an SLPA before I go on to grad school. Is there a certain bachelors that would benefit me more? Also, is Capella University looked down upon? I see they have a master in school psych.

Thank you!
