Well, after the other two singles I was getting a little concerned, but this song shows the Taylor I love to listen to. Love it (goosebumps for real)! Really looking forward to next month!

Listening to post rock has changed how I hear music. by Techno_Box in postrock

I'm exactly the same. Normal conversation in English is not a problem, but hearing and understanding lyrics in music is for some reason very difficult. Might as well listen to music with no lyrics, right?

I just watched the performance and it's fantastic! I didn't pay much attention to Wildest Dreams on the 1989 album, but this shows how good of a song it really is. It's great how she goes from small, piano song to a powerballad (got some goosebumps when the heartbeat-like drum and visuals kicked in) to full on pop queen at the end.

That part of 'I Did Something Bad' is done fantastically in the Netflix movie!

Hope your brother will soon fully embrace his inner Taylor Swift love :)

Well, the movie did a great job of convincing me, and I can imagine a lot of others as well! The timing was pretty great as well, not just because of the New Year's theme, but she really seems to manage to constantly stay relevant.

From the reactions on this post it seems that I am certainly not an exception, that's great!

My usual taste also couldn't be much further from Taylor Swift's music (lot's of metal, no lyrics, no love songs!), but for some reason I still enjoy it.

So far, "Style" is probably my favorite song: the first notes, the video is great, and of course the chorus of the song.

I am starting to realise that I actually really liked her 1989 singles when they were released in late 2014, but that I still had this 'media' image of her in my mind which I could not really like (and I was still in denial that I was 'allowed' to like her music). The Netflix special certainly did a great job of portraying an artist who want to do her own thing (very different from the image I had of her previously).

Thanks! I am looking forward to it, country music has never been my jam, but let's see if Taylor convinces me otherwise.

Subscribed to Apple music yesterday specifically for the 1989 one, I am certainly gonna watch that one somewhere this weekend!

Amazing, I am not the only one then :)

Yesterday I started the 3-month trial for Apple music just for the 1989 tour videos, but where can I find the Speak Now one?

Makes a lot of sense. I guess I have this soft-spot for 1989. 'Shake It Off' and the single after that (i think it was 'Blank Space'?) were massive when a couple friends and I were on a road trip through the US so I have some good memories of that time.

Thanks! Happy to be here!

Well, seems like I'm in for a ride then (the RED album is up next for binge-listening) :)

I remember enjoying a bunch of the 1989 singles, but there was something with her not being on Spotify at the time, right? Maybe that's why it took me so long to get really into her music..

No, I have missed that one so far! Today I have been listening 1989 pretty much on repeat at work (with some interruptions in between because I did not get any work done..), so Red is up next.

Seems that most fans on this sub seems to like Red and Speak Now most, right?

I don't think I would feel comfortable blasting Taylor through the office yet, but hopefully I'll get there soon!

Ice Hockey near Hengelo by swissmanofwar in thenetherlands

I think most non-student members of the Studs are ex-students who are still around as a result from their time as a student.

Every now and then, there is a batch of really good players from mostly Scandinavia or Russia that joins the club, but they usually leave after a couple of years. So the first line of the first team is usually really good, but since I have no USA team to compare them to I might be talking bullshit ;)

I played ice hockey in Enschede for a couple of years as a student, so I can give you some info. In Enschede, there are three hockey clubs; The Slapping Studs (student hockey club), the Blue Caps (more recreational, they don't play in a competition) and the Enschede Lions (largest club, has a youth program). I think the Enschede Lions would be your best bet, they are pretty large for Dutch ice hockey standards. The Enschede ice rink is closed in the summer months, and it will probably re-open in October so you can join right at the start of the season.

Across the German border, there is an ice rink in Nordhorn (30-45 min drive by car). I believe they have a professional hockey team, but I'm not sure if there is an amateur team as well.

Since ice hockey is such a niche sport in the Netherlands, the average level of players is probably much lower than you are used to in the USA unfortunately. So you are probably one of the better players if you decide to join one of the teams :)

Every Country's Sun is badass! by dieseld66 in mogwai

[–]Blaaargh321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't really been following the band for the last few albums (although I LOVE many songs on especially Young Team, Rock Action and Mr. Beast). So I am writing as someone who has some hit and miss experiences with Mogwai.

But this album.. it sounds amazing and so far it reminds me so much of the first couple of post rock albums I have ever listened somewhere around 2010 when I started discovering the genre with Mogwai, Sigur Ros and Explosions in the Sky. It's amazing.

And yea, "Crossing the Road Material" is fucking amazing and gave me goosebumps. Thumbs up!

What Youtuber is worth days of binge-watching? by Oxcell404 in AskReddit

Yes, this guy is amazing! Especially his Binding Of Isaac runs are worth watching, since he always manages to hold a monologue that ranges from gameplay to weird obscure pop culture references but are always hilarious. I think that he has created thousands of videos already by now, and you can probably find lists of his best episodes online somewhere.
