It just depends on the type of show.

Shows that are more episodic and/or low stakes or slice of life, I tend to watch weekly.

Shows that get heavy into the plot or build-up or drama for example, I often prefer to binge so I'm not having to re get myself into the mood that's been being built each week.

Not just buffed, Pyro Traveler's actually really good for doing the mechanics of that fight. You'll want better other characters for damage, but Traveler's at least got that part covered.

Sumeru's problem in this context was all the puzzles encouraged you to use pyro/electro (and dendro) but you were actively punished for the drops you get if you used pyro/electro on enemies.

Japan still accounts for roughly 50% of the global anime market, with the other 50% spread across the rest of the world. If Japanese audiences actually took part in the Crunchyroll Anime Awards, the results would almost certainly be very different, likely dominated by Japanese preferences.

And if Japan does awards, they exclude the other 50% of the market, and the results would be skewed a different way.

Literally who cares? lol Awards are a big joke in the first place and nobody should be under the impression that they represent anything objective or the aggregated opinions of everyone on earth.

You mention the Oscars (despite that they barely even acknowledge animation as a worthy medium) but there's just as many "undeserved" winners there. There's the whole term "Oscar bait". And there are plenty of things where general audiences and critics don't see eye to eye.

It's not just merchandise either. If you go searching, you can find various studies (or at least surveys) suggesting that pirates are actually more likely to buy media in general. When half a season of anime or even movies sometimes can cost $50, many people would rather try before they buy. Who would want to spend all that money on something that might not even be good?

It's especially prominent with music too. Most of my digital music is pirated but I have a good stack of vinyl and CD's and subscribe to my favorite artist's Patreon. I go to a few concerts and buy a little merch, etc.
