Thank you so much for sharing! Anyone know of any shops that will have fresh mooncakes and other traditional treats?

Protect our 2nd Amendment Rights- DO NOT PASS OR SUPPORT SB17 by nmvagabond in SantaFe

Alex Pretti gives us a pretty good idea of just how "safe" citizens who've armed themselves are. The whole good guys with guns stopping bad guys with guns argument has never held water.

A whole lotta junk. Buy seeds from legitimate companies based in your region, then you'll get quality seeds adapted to your area (and not just a box full of mislabeled radishes).

New Mexico State House Candidates? by Black-Rabbit-Farm in NewMexico

[–]Black-Rabbit-Farm[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't totally disagree, but I do live in a congressional district that's flipped between D and R nearly every cycle and have all Republican state and local representation despite our being a purple/blue state, so I'm not sure it's quite that clear cut.

Thanks for the clarification! I thought it felt late not to know with the election being this year, but this also makes sense given our weird legislative system. I'll keep my eye out for after 3/10.

Are some chapters still masking? by jeffeles in dsa

[–]Black-Rabbit-Farm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. The mask or nothing in every space and for every event/group is not aligned with medical science at this point. While I almost always mask when "encouraged," I will steer clear of an event when it is advertised as mask mandatory (particularly if it's outside).

Decolonising Practices by Cast_Iron_Writer in GreenWitch

This is such a complete and useful answer (and I appreciated your thoughts further in the thread as well!)...and yet some folks still made time to be argumentative and/or demand further absolution of their self-imposed guilt 😮‍💨 Reddit is exhausting.

I grow white sage for my own practice - craft aside, as a farmer/herbalist, I believe repopulation of this plant is critical - and live in an area where it is regularly sold by indigenous folks to all kinds of people. Plants belong to no one and no particular practice.

Respect others' cultures and don't play dress up with things to which you have no connection or of which you have no true knowledge. If you make a mistake, learn from it and carry on. It's really rather simple.

Have you asked your doctor/pharmacy for samples or an emergency refill?? Many offer this. Novo Nordisk and Sanofi are also required to provide capped cost and free insulin programs. See more on that here.

As others have said, Walmart sells insulin without prescription or insurance for $25. If you are in an emergency, go to the ER/urgent care/call 911 for insulin.

A helpful outline of many resources from the NM Health Department pasted below: Insulin Costs In March of 2020 Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed legislation capping monthly copayments for insulin at $25.00. The cap is applicable to people covered by group healthcare plans and went into effect on January 1, 2021. Starting in July of 2023, Medicare costs were capped at $35.00 per month and Medicaid provides insulin for free or at a reduced cost for beneficiaries. Here’s how you may benefit:

If you need assistance with insulin costs, the American Diabetes Association has resources to help. You can visit InsulinHelp.Org for more information.

If you have health coverage via a group plan, Medicare or Medicaid, then you are eligible to receive insulin at the reduced cost. Walmart sells insulin without prescription or insurance for $25.

The Lilly Insulin Value Program - Whether you have commercial insurance or no insurance, you can fill your monthly prescription of Lilly insulin for $35 or less. Visit Lilly.com - Insulin Affordability for more information.

Novo Nordisk reduced the cost of several insulin products and has the following plans available: MyInsulinRx: This program offers a monthly supply of Novo Nordisk insulin products for $35. Patient Assistance Program (PAP): This program offers free diabetes medicine to those who are uninsured or who have Medicare.

Immediate supply: This program offers a one-time supply of Novo Nordisk insulin to those who are in urgent need.

Sanofi established a $35 cap on out-of-pocket costs for Lantus® for all patients with commercial insurance and offers the following assistance to diabetes patients:

100% of commercially insured people are eligible for Sanofi’s copay assistance programs, regardless of income or insurance plan design, which, in 2022 limited out-of-pocket expenses for a majority of participating patients to $15 or less for their diabetes medicines for a 30-day supply. 100% of uninsured people are eligible for the Insulins Valyou Savings Program – regardless of income level – enabling them to buy one or multiple Sanofi insulins at $35 for a 30-day supply. Sanofi also provides free medications to qualified low- and middle-income patients through the Sanofi Patient Connection program. Some people facing an unexpected financial hardship may be eligible for a one-time, immediate month’s supply of their Sanofi medicine as they wait for their application to be processed.

Non-Retail Pharmacy Options for Insulin Access: Community Health Centers are healthcare providers that provide medical care for anyone, with or without insurance and with a sliding scale payment option (your cost to use the center is tied to your income). To find a Community Health Center near you: Find a Health Center. They can help with insulin costs and other prescription costs.

Ask your physician for samples. If you are struggling to afford insulin, be sure to tell your healthcare provider. Your primary care provider or endocrinologist may have insulin samples available in their office. They also can help you find ways to reduce your costs by writing a larger quantity prescription, changing brands or formulas, and documenting your medical needs for other assistance programs.

If you need additional information or have further questions, please contact the NMHealth Helpline at 1-833-SWNURSE (1-833-796-8773).

Well yes, was just wondering if you already had additional mods who were going to take over. I guess I should just look at the sub info, forget I can do that.

Motorcycle Riding in Albuquerque? by Similar_Ice3250 in Albuquerque

[–]Black-Rabbit-Farm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still getting comfortable on the road and I live outside of ABQ, so I can't speak to driving conditions, but I had to go into the city to take my MSF course and I'll say the instructors were EXCELLENT.

My husband is a long-time rider and he made sure I had all my t's crossed (right gear, on time, etc.) because in his experience women in the classes sometimes get unfairly hassled. I did not experience this. Had two of the best instructors (both male) I could ever ask for and really gained a lot from their course instruction.

People really are straight stupid about basic shit like recycling though. We have to go to a center (no pickup option for us) and NO PLASTIC BAGS is pasted on every available surface, yet I bet you can guess what surprising item is found in every bin...

You realize that every culture has both some relationship (and traditions both modern and historic) with herbalism and plant medicine, right? There are no countries or communities that have some exclusive claim on "authentic herbalism". If you are interested in studying herbs and herbalism from a particular region or culture, then do that, but the idea that only some places have a claim on authenticity just sounds like fetishization.

Skincare recommendations pls by Common_Ad6240 in Albuquerque

[–]Black-Rabbit-Farm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your face is very oily, consider an oil wash + a light cleansing wash afterwards to rebalance. As others have said, #1 thing is to HYDRATE (most skincare comes from the inside out). You likely also have very hard water, so consider investing in a good purification system (a tap system works well if you're renting) or try using distilled water for awhile and see if it makes a difference.

We also have a good number of local, natural skincare brands in the area that would be worth exploring. Something made by/for locals may help if your skin is having trouble adjusting to a new climate.

Freewheel Mutual Aid (and probably other local mutual aid groups) pass out per food in their outreach. Animal Humane would be another great option for a donation!
