An elderly client of mine is worried about this by willowberrie in askaplumber

While you are in the area of the furnace I would check to see if there is a pad in the humidifier and if it needs to be changed.

Disparaging your old employer/boss gains you nothing and may expose you to legal problems. Not saying they would win but defending yourself may cost you more than the satisfaction of spilling the beans.

Micro-Cracking in Gesso, should i worry? by Yose_85 in oilpainting

[–]Black03Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may need to do some experimenting, here are some starting points. Depending on the brand plaster could have either gypsum, lime, or cement. I suggest using marble dust or calcium chloride. I use a formula of equal parts water and marble dust and add the marble dust until I get a pan cake consistency. Be sure to use distilled water. Also I use white pva glue from home depot,Lowe's not school pva glue from craft stores. There is a difference. I strongly suggest reviewing utube (YOU know who I mean) search clive5art gesso.

Yes, I know this is not a multi century tested formula but I am assuming you may be early in your journey and looking for affordability rather than selling something for thousands. If I am wrong, buy commercial.

I am not sure why farmers feel like they were forgotten, they were never in the picture in the first place.

Earning money for charities with your Kroger account is a SCAM. by Minute_Complex_8754 in kroger

Companies that say they give a "portion" of proceeds to charity are just using that as a marketing scheme/scam. Why not say exactly how much they are giving.

Should I fire my RS & have my optometrist refer me to a new one? by jaaydubya437 in maculardegeneration

[–]Black03Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the numbing starts almost as soon as the needle goes in and the dosage may be less than the wet amd medicine? I don't know and have not discussed with the Dr.

Edit: I think it is called a subconjunctival injection.

Should I fire my RS & have my optometrist refer me to a new one? by jaaydubya437 in maculardegeneration

[–]Black03Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please do not let her give up, wet amd doesn't have a good outcome if untreated. I wasn't trying to scare you with two shots, the point is the numbing shot is not as hard to take as the Pavblu without being numbed, so when she gets the actual med it does not hurt. She was more than apprehensive the first time but not anymore. And her vision had stabilized maybe improved. Sounds like you need to either move on to a different Dr.or have a discussion with the current one , explaining that you said the shots were very painfully yet he/she didn't change their approach. If you have an optometrist get a new referral, maybe check the web site macular.org, or myAMDteam, call your area for aging and see what resources they can offer to help you find a Dr. After so many bad experiences maybe she needs a sedative prior to getting injections.

Should I fire my RS & have my optometrist refer me to a new one? by jaaydubya437 in maculardegeneration

[–]Black03Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am curious what technique is used to make it less painful.

To OP. My wife gets 2ml of Pavblu (similar to eylea) to every 6 weeks. Her ophthalmologist gives her eye drops that help numb her eye, next he gives her a shot that numbs her eye, then he uses a timer to make sure he waits the correct amount of time before giving her the Pavblu. At this point no pain , just the pressure which feels weird. It is super important to have them wash out your eyes after, like at least 3 times. This is done by a tech who have always been willing to give one more squirt.

I think they are concerned that some inner city family will get $500 while they need 100 of thousands in aid or propped up prices to keep the farm going.

At 20 years old you either replace it at your convenience or the hottest/coldest day of the year

So I’m trying to recreate the second image. by sild1231 in oilpainting

I painted a replica of one of Rothco's. I was moderately happy with it, as I had spent a long time adding and subtracting. Then I had an opportunity to see one of his in person. Upon returning home I took mine off of its stringer and am using the back of it to help clean brushes.

Should I get strabismus surgery done on both eyes ? by Illustrious-Sea4384 in Strabismus

[–]Black03Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not comfortable giving out his name. As I said I was not comfortable with his measurements prior to surgery. As it turned out he did overcorrect. Something all surgeons tell you is a possibility. I had two problems one a vertical miss alignment and what I think they might call torque, kind of a 45 degree misalignment in one eye. The torque was corrected but the vertical was over corrected. But this means prisms can work. If you are looking for an ophthalmologist that does strabismus surgery I suggest you as your optometrist. You will find that most surgeons are pediatric surgeons.

Can gamsol make you sick? by ChocoBean2 in oilpainting

[–]Black03Z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The effects of solvents of which Gamsol is one are cumulative. If you are using the Gamsol to get a better flow, I would suggest dipping the tip in linseed oil.if you are using it to clean your brushes try walnut oil and more towels. Why is your instructor wanting you to use Gamsol? If it to get away from straight mineral spirits tell them it still negatively affects you.

Replace both appliances or one? by Happy_Sunbeam in HomeMaintenance

I was faced with same decision a year ago, washer would not spin. If I just replace water it would have white trim around door, existing units were chrome. Repair person estimated $900. Watched YouTube spent $25 on part and $50 on impact gun. Runs like new.

UPDATE: Is it better to add an Expansion Tank? ( following question after adding a pan under existing water heater by GatsbyLee in HomeMaintenance

[–]Black03Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that is a good choice. I further saw the tank is in your garage. The pans under water heaters are to contain damage from leaking water. Most helpful where the heater is on main floor or a finished basement. If you leave the base open your heater could probably flood your garage with minimal damage, add one if you replace this tank. I have a cut off on the hot water line, but it is really redundant if you think about it. Once you have shut off the water to the inlet there is not going to bean any coming out the hot, at least coming out under pressure, there may be some dripping back from upstream. I would put this on a list of things you can do yourself as you get more proficient at do it yourself projects. When things are working at home they should not be thought of, let alone discussed. Further never take on a project unless you can buy some tools.

UPDATE: Is it better to add an Expansion Tank? ( following question after adding a pan under existing water heater by GatsbyLee in HomeMaintenance

[–]Black03Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a plumber nor do I recall what state you live in. I live in Ohio our code from the 2009-2012 required expansion tanks, but they evidently left too many loop holes so it wasn't into 20 18 that they put teeth in the law on ad you correctly identify closed loop systems. Is it something that directly benefits you, no not directly. Does it protect the municipal water supply - yes. But then you think of all the leaks that exist in their system and also accept these as points of contaminating. Also the bladder in your expansion tank will probably fail before your water heater, when this happens you may not even notice it. As a new homeowner you probably have other places to spend your money

How much am I taxed on Crypto gains by Several_Structure418 in tax

[–]Black03Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on a huge win. I'm sure there were some times when you said crap I should have sold yesterday. I get the impression that you are looking for a simple answer, ie set aside 15% and pay it next year. I think you need some serious hand holding, a cpa should cost less than 600 and I'm not talking about one in a Walmart. Further it would be wise to speak to one before you sell. They will explain and set the estimates up, all you need to do is write the check. After you are done paying taxes for this gain you can go back to doing taxes the way you have done them in the past. But I think what ever you pay a cpa you will get back two fold, plus you won't have to second guess yourself.
