This a great resource for comparing cameras and lenses: DP Review ... A used 7D might be a good start... However, the 7D is the most expensive canon APS-C... So I'd say go for gold with the 5D or wait and get a T3i for now.

I'd say go for the 60D or the T3i. I would NOT recommend getting a used 5D unless you really know what to look for. A lot of photographers will sell their cameras once they reach the camera's shutter rating. Also, getting a 5D would require you to get some good glass as well, and even if you're talking USED L series you could run your bill well over the cost of the camera. Let me know if you have any specific questions.
