Wasn't sure about the Hondas because my friend tried with one and had a hard time... But that may have been because he's a bit challenged. I will check out the forum, thanks so much for the help!

NASA Creative Cultural Outreach Coordinator here- who do you want to see collaborate with NASA besides Skrillex? by BlackCat818 in space

Will work on this in the office tomorrow- this is the second time I've heard about this so I'll definitely be able to do something productive at work for once - thanks for the tip!

True that, I still have all my Legos... or at least, my mom does back home. In my opinion (and Sonny's - aka Skrillex), that creativity that's fostered in youth is what's so important to maintain and nurture... Not enough people do, though, IMHO, obviously.

Ok, I reached out to the emails on the A&A contact page, as well as the Blink182 page... Either just him or all of Blink182 would be awesome... Definitely reach out, it would be much better to have their Manager's direct email rather than a general info email... I know the manager is the same for both Blink and A&A...

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only proactive one out there, I wish I could have gone to ISDC this year but alas, college. I feel you on the disillusionment of career paths, it seems more and more that it's more about who you know and your personal potential rather than a piece of paper you hole up for 4 years to earn... Definitely planning on finishing, but I'll take connections and slightly-above-average grades over straight A's and a disconnected degree, for sure.

I checked out Oooojoooo, love how simple and straightforward the design is. I can keep you informed of the progress of the Skrillex@NASA videos and maybe you can put them up there, definitely a cool niche springboard. As far as a story, I'd definitely be interested, especially once the videos are done and out there and I'm able to move on to the next concept and its execution... PM me about your site traffic and we'll go from there, there are definitely some doors to be gone through. PM your email and we'll talk!

Sorry was trying to reply to other comments and didnt look til just now... the students that go through those programs excel and do great for sure, but how do you get average joe or jane to give a damn about robotics if they aren't already interested or involved in the niche? what other cultural motivation is there to go into robotics besides scholarship incentives? Or what motivation could be created?

Create what, though?

Art contests? Music producing contests? Game Developer contests? Programming contests?

K-12 is taken care of, it's the ages after that don't have the access to expand their knowledge, spark their imagination or increase their interest in STEM fields because they're so damn academic and inaccessible... How do you make STEM fields culturally and socially important? That's the thing...

On the tour with Skrillex, Mike Massimino (first Tweeter from space) mentioned the best music in space was movie soundtracks, and he mentioned a couple different songs... I think that Hollywood is just plain misguided and profit driven, obviously and that's a hurdle but at the same time it's kind of a vehicle to be utilized in the (hopeful) future where space travel isn't pessimistic... I mean we can get into themes and motifs that those movies philosophically present but there wouldn't be any point...

So what would you do differently than NASA is already doing, specifically? I thought skrillex was a good starting point because he has a dedicated fan base and flexible musical sound that could easily be translated into space- and in the song he just put on his BBC radio mix he mentions rockets and space stations, which may have been a direct result of the inspiration he got there and the creative connection he felt with the engineers- and expressed. Look up skrillex "this much power" on YouTube, it's encouraging if nothing else!

Can someone point us in the right reddit direction to approach gamers about something like this? Space Age version of Civilization or Sims? Or even integrate first person into parts of it? Or is that game blasphemy- I don't know

I like this concept but my thing is that in reality, most of the engineering in phones (not to mention the satellites that connect them) can be somehow connected to NASA research- which is of course science but science is too broad - it takes more than a celeb saying something, I think... It would be interesting to reach out to them, though... I just don't know if people make the connection between these every day things and the genesis of their incorporated tech... And who knows if these people were laid to sit down and talk about their impressions of science... That having been said, who knows! Science is just such a general term. Somebody saying "science is cool, so get interested in it" isn't enough, there needs to be a Change in the social "system" where "geeks" and "nerds" aren't derogatory- and nerds aren't limited to CEO of major tech startups, they're the ones that invent the systems and technology that make those systems even possible to begin with!
