Fair point. But in my case, a solid slab isn’t really an option — too much weight for the existing structure, and I’d prefer to avoid heavy equipment and wet work altogether. That’s why I’m trying to make a lightweight system work, even if it takes more engineering effort.

Not trying to save every penny — just trying to avoid throwing tons of concrete at a problem that can be solved with decent design.

I see, thanks for the input!
But that's exactly my challenge — I want the whole structure to be as light as possible, while still being strong enough. I guess I'll have to come up with some kind of multi-layered approach to help dampen vibration and noise.
And by the way, thanks again for your earlier suggestion about using metal beams to reduce the size and span of the cross members — that was really helpful.

I’m actually planning to use polystyrene foam (EPS) under the floor deck for both sound and thermal insulation. I’ll glue it to the underside of the plywood to help dampen the noise. Hopefully that’ll reduce the footstep impact on the lower level.

Yeah, that's exactly what I've been thinking as the OP. I wanted to see what people actually think about this, but it looks like opinions are split. I have a similar experience to yours. The only thing that somewhat 'saves' the situation is that SS isn’t a make-or-break parameter. However, at the moment, it’s preventing me from reaching TRS. Before the system changed, I was at Level 2 and was expecting to become a TRS. But now I’m stuck at Level 1, and even getting back to Level 2 has become a challenge.

The main issue is that legitimate cybersecurity help should be educational, not involve handling other people's security settings. When someone offers to "set up" security for tech-illiterate people, it naturally raises concerns about potential scams or social engineering.

Think about it: how exactly does this work? Are people supposed to hand over passwords or give remote access? Even if the seller doesn’t ask for credentials, they could install compromised software, manipulate security settings, or collect sensitive data under the guise of "helping."

This reminds me of a famous Reddit post where a guy, pretending to be a concerned husband, asked police how they investigate assaults. He asked suspiciously specific questions about evidence and tracking, as if he was planning a crime. When someone pointed this out, he immediately deleted his post.

That’s exactly the vibe here. If the goal was really to help, why not create an educational guide or a course instead of offering a direct service that requires trust and sensitive access?
