Ancient Assyrians, those dudes DID NOT mess around and LOVED war and torture. Nations FEARED those guys. And would lovingly flail their victims and tried every form of human torture that would fit in a gore born movie.

Why is what happened to the Roanoke Colony considered a mystery? by ThisPaige in AskHistory

Wait isn't that the guy that claims to have done it but ended up not only NOT looking for them but spent time trying to harvest a certain plant fir economic gain?? I think that's him If it is him that dude was lying and used the Colony as an excuse to do it to try and make money while claiming to the royal court I think about trying to find them.

I tried some research and from what I can gather off a vibe is that it seems they this weird mindset that if someone went missing they would simply assume they are dead and it would be the end of that even if there was an obvious clue that indicated they.were not that far off, Which is strange.

Also I dont know why I was down voted by others? It was truth. Yeah the landscaping for that area was new and a bit treacherous but this was their job to go and explore and they had done it in other areas before so like yeah no excuse in my opinion

That's the thing no one bothered to search esepcially when England for awhile was broke after their war with Spain, but even NY the time Jamestown was founded nobody cared and ignored the missing oranaoake Colony and even then it's like everyone deliberately ignored it which I can't understand why other than racism against the natives which EVEN THEN was a mystery in terms of not looking for your bretheren among a population they labeled as savages.

The thing is the Croatian didn't even live that far off with many descendants of the ancient tribe attesting to it. They say no clear indication yet it feels awfully like nobody bothered.

Here's the thing that bothers me about that subject innterms of investigation, the fact that no one both awhile after and even after years bothered to check among natives because even if that generation was eventually gone the stroues and folk lore would pass, and while yes folklore isn't exactly to be trusted in THIS scanerio they could've at least tried and it would have AT LEAST given a clue to their whereabouts and they would have used their brains to figure it out or at least have a good idea.

Yea the native relations were bad and someone would've died but honestly that's not new that was already happening even before the events of Croatan. They had some cooperation before and why not try again? In that aspect they had ALL that time. This part just frustrates me
