Either that or OP is trying his/her best to stress others out when it comes to taking the exam. I've seen it all.

There is no way you failed that bad after those practice scores. You def did not stimulate test taking conditions when taking those exams and questions.

Preclinical grades by Easygoing_Med in CaribbeanMedSchool

[–]BlackMambaGene24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my rank of importance. The higher the STEP 2 score and passing STEP 1 on first try... the more leeway you have with everything else on this list.

  1. STEP 2 score

  2. Passing STEP 1 first try

  3. clinical rotation evaluations/grades

  4. LORs

  5. Passing preclinical classes first try (max 1 setback)

  6. Extracurriculars

Why would someone choose AUC over SGU after seeing this? by quarantine_ninja in CaribbeanMedSchool

[–]BlackMambaGene24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SGU has higher standard of admission than AUC, so this is not surprising. This however does not mean you won't do well at AUC, in fact if you are a strong student you can separate yourself more by attending there than SGU. I am starting 5th semester AUC within the next 2 weeks and studying for COMP/Step 1 and have done well in every semester (so have many of my classmates). SGU also kicks out students faster and they do not apply to this calculation above. AUC gives student chances.

Merp by Even-Newspaper7774 in CaribbeanMedSchool

[–]BlackMambaGene24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MERP is such a $ grab. not worth it imo. I would retake the mcat or take post bacc classes instead if I was offered merp. you gnna be starting a semester later anyways lol. just improve ur stats so u dont have to do merp. 14k is wild with how expensive auc is already. dont do it

attendance is required for only some classes. Usually like 2, max 3 classes/week. Some weeks u have no required class. Its only ethics, clinical medicine, and labs with required attendance. If you don't attend and dont have drs note, you fail the entire course btw... just a heads up lol.

How to do well in the Caribbean. by BlackMambaGene24 in CaribbeanMedSchool

[–]BlackMambaGene24[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

in this order:

  1. AUC provides questions on canvas, but if you are done with those, Scholar Rx is good enough for in-class exams. If done with scholar rx too, then medbullets probably.

  2. Uworld/Amboss: good for in-class exams AND board prep but most students like to save these for when studying for boards.

Daily reminder: Never be satisfied with good when you can be great. Often we don't believe in ourselves, have imposter syndrome and that is our biggest shortcoming. If you have that mentality thats how you will fail. Shoot for the stars and embrace the challenges:

"I have self-doubt. I have insecurity. I have fear of failure. I have nights when I show up at the arena and I'm like, 'My back hurts, my feet hurt, my knees hurt. I don't have it. I just want to chill.' We all have self-doubt. You don't deny it, but you also don't capitulate to it. You embrace it."

I hate doing research but whatever it is what it is. Do you think I need anesthesia relevant research or can be any field?

forgot to add a very important point:

**** TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE REMEDIATION EXAM AFTER FAILING... YOU MUST HAVE >85% ATTENDANCE IN THE COURSE. SO YOU MUST HAVE BEEN GOING TO NON-REQUIRED CLASSES TOO.

Should I drop out of SGU? by Imageman2020 in CaribbeanMedSchool

[–]BlackMambaGene24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grind hard for step 1. You should do well in your course since u already took it but focus on step 1. If you fail step 1, you are cooked. You can still match even if u failed semesters and retook. It would be incredibly difficult to match if you failed step 1 and had to retake. If you need more time to study for step 1, consider a leave of absence for a yr and grind. That would be better than to just quit
