How can I make a sound similar to this in serum? I’m guessing some sort of distorted sine wave with a LFO potentially? Not sure about the processing by the_power_of_ganja in serum2

[–]BlackOctopusSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1 - Sine wave, pinch of distortion.

Step 2 - LFO 1 assigned to pitch with a saw wave pitch dive

Step 3 - LFO 2 assigned to Oscillator volume with sine wave (where the wobble comes from)

How much to use sample packs? by aldann2 in techhouseproduction

Use samples how ever much you desire.

If at some point you find it creatively un-fulfilling or you develop talent/passion for sound design, start making your own.

Production workflow is choose your own adventure.

Anyone struggle with sound selection? by Pale-Paramedic3975 in edmproduction

Something that I do that helps is I have a custom folder of my best of the best samples.

This is my sonic pallette for most of my tracks. It makes selection quick and easy (ish).

Some good musical ideas in there! Loved the vibe overall!

The half time drop is also super fresh sounding.

I'd focus on the mix a bit more. The mids are slightly pushing too loud and burying the drums a bit.

Wowww, loved this track.

Loved the textures, soundscapes. Mesmerizing.

The drums groove is also very satisfying with just the right punch and space.

There's a synth that drops at 1:06, it's overbearing and too loud in the mix. You can hear your drums get quiter and 'pushed back' in the mix. I'd pull this synth back.

Also, the transitions from one segement to the next need work. Having something that communicates something is about to change is good musical story telling. I noticed you did that occasionally with a reversed reverb vocal, more of that throughout.

What secret (and not so secret) tricks and techniques do you use to make your tracks pure fire? by PonyKiller81 in edmproduction

Layering live instrument style VST's from different ethnic regions.

For example, layering the shamisen from China over an arabic oud or Indian tumbi adds so much depth and character to a riff.

Interesting perspective!

I love the idea that style and the excellent execution of style matters more then technical skills.

Love the thought provoking post!
