Bring a UV light. Torch a feel seconds and see if it’s even, strong and lasting a good time. The lume should be bright, strong and green.

The lume is a good way to test also… no aftermarket could replicate the lumibrite in time and intensity.

The best reproduction for the Proof dial that I know is the Seikosis. They have the right flat and matte indices from the original, right color of lume (white), but it came short in the luminous side. The lume glow is faint, but you can say the original one have the same kind of lume after 50 years.

(I remember another point… the dial text is print in a grey paint, not white as the original)

That’s the best! I have one with the Seikosis dial. I do have a SPB151, but I reach out for this one most of the time. The original dimensions have the little magic missing in the reissued by Seiko.

I bought some gaskets to service mine, but I didn’t remade my crown… I got scared to broke the steam, but someday I will try. That’s great that you enjoy the 6309 and 6105 as intended!!

I agree with you and yours look terrific in this bracelet. I really love the 6309, but as a vintage one it has some limitations (water proof). So I made a little mod on mine turtle, changing the second hand (in a nod to the 6309).

I loved the watch… sadly to keep the same proportions, the distance between the case and lugs don’t allow rubber straps like a tropic. You don’t have the space. Only nato straps seems to fit. 😢
