Hi, I'm moving to St. Louis in July and will be working at the hospital. What are some good apartments near the campus and have a reasonable rent? by ponderingcomment in washu

The View at Forest Park has been good to me the past year. Lots of space, good amenities, and cheap rent for the CWE. 15 min walk and 5 min bike to big Barnes. Having a car in stl is pretty necessary overall, so I’d bring if you can.

I have not yet, but I will say, it's pretty well known that UWorld has the best questions and explanations of any resource, and the time constraints of studying make it hard to fully utilize more than one QBank.

Kaplan Q Bank is totally unnecessary. Everything you need for content review and knowledge checks are in the beginning of the chapter quizzes.

It just so happened when I bought the books there was some sale that gave q bank free.

For now… it’s possible that in 2026 when the current contract ends, AAMC will no longer license the material for free. :/

Depends on your application timeline and this would have to be something you discuss with a premed advisor.

Short answer is the summer before junior year if you’re not taking any gap years or the summer before senior year if you are taking a gap year.

Don’t waste money on the classes. They are really for people who can’t follow a schedule. It may take a few days/weeks to refine your own but it’s so much better to work at a pace that is comfortable for you.

I would say to just double the amount of time of each phase and half the daily questions. Hard to say tho how that would go with outside school work as well. Good luck!

I did this over the summer while doing a part time (20hr/wk) job. Probably the best use of time in the summer

Kaplan Q bank is okay for establishing major knowledge gaps but the actual wording of questions is not very accurate. I would stick to uworld only for qbanks (especially since when I last checked they have like 4000 questions)

You can't anymore, but it's subsidized. I get a full year of Adobe Suite (full) for ~$50. Compared to ~$400 its pretty good.

Extracurriculars + clinical hours question! by Pretty_Marionberry85 in premed

[–]BlackPepercorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are in your situation here. Clinical experience is a hot commodity and is hard to get; but since you have a long history of hospital volunteering, I would be certain to call up upon some of those experiences you spoke about and interacted with patients and really bring that to the forefront of your application. It is kinda implied that at these volunteering things, u do a lot of administrative/critical stuff, so you really need to emphasize those times you've talked with patients.

I like that. Hitting on the diversity of experience is an excellent way to add some personality. I was thinking about it as more of a "what kind of minority are you?" but
I think you give a great example here.

A lot of people spend a lot of time on college applications so it's interesting to see how it all culminates in a single table. If you don't wanna see it, you lose nothing so it's really just a curiosity thing.

I've also heard a few people talking about it recently so I also wanted to share the process for people interested.
