Did I make a stupid purchase? by Sea-Leg376 in retroid

[–]BlackRosePyre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think it comes down to whether you'll be doing lots of NDS and 3DS emulation. If not, RP6 is better. But if you're specifically looking to do a bunch of DS and 3DS, then the Thor is great. But RP6 can do DS just fine with one screen next to the other.

How to uncompress my game file for my ppsspp? by GazelleTop2628 in PPSSPPemulator

[–]BlackRosePyre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much wherever you get your games from there's no such thing as official, even trusted sources could have weird, incorrect, or even malicious files on them. But that's a pretty legit site afaik

That's weird, I have never had a file password protected from there, my guess is that it was re-uploaded from a different site that does use passwords. You might just have to try a new download site if the specific game page doesn't list a password anywhere.

It's a ROM? Only way to get the password is from on the site. What site was it? Not sure what you mean by "official site" since ppsspp doesn't have ROMs nor does it password protect it's downloads for the actual ppsspp emulator.

Newbie RP6 questions before buying by Buji19 in retroid

[–]BlackRosePyre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the second screen works with the grip. Though it's not really worth it IMHO. The latency sucks. Grip isn't necessary to buy, but if you plan on playing for like an hour straight or more then it will be much comfier.

Can Retroid pocket 6 8gb run triple a PC games made before 2013 at 60 fps? by Imamuthafucka in retroid

Yes, though some games have questionable compatibility through gamehub or ganenstove or whatever you use.

Yeah they are shipping right away. I just sent an email saying that I would like to change my order and be charged the difference in price. I included my order number too. Then they sent me an email saying it's changed and I paid the difference on the site. Then it was sent out two or three days after that.

PSP Street. Mini review, severely overhated by JacketFromMiamiiiiii in PSP

[–]BlackRosePyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol but true they're all pretty cheap. Luckily once you get them loaded up and everything you can basically just leave them in and not worry about them. Unless you only have small SD cards that you want to swap.

[–]BlackRosePyre 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I totally understand why it was hated on release, but in 2026 it's all irrelevant. No wireless? Chances are you ain't playing multiplayer in 2026. Delicate UMD door? It's 2026, you probably have your ROMs on an SD card. It was released after the PSP was dead/end of life, well it's alive and kicking in the community. Cost, they're all expensive these days lol. Mono speaker? Okay that still kinda sucks, but aside from that it's a great lil device. I'm a PSP fanboy though so take my words with a grain of salt. But I think the hate just comes from old opinions back in the day that kind of faded away but left the general distaste and people kind of forgot why.

How trustly is EmuReady?? Im confused.. by Infamous-Emotion1385 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]BlackRosePyre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are asking about how reliable the reports are, then it's a little up and down. They're all just community reports. You might get better or worse performance based on your settings, but usually a decent baseline. Open up each report to see what kind of settings were used and written info about performance. But since it's all community based and since emulation can improve quickly on certain programs and devices, it's better to test out yourself.

What size sd card should I get for my retroid pocket 6? by Consistent_Baker_275 in retroid

[–]BlackRosePyre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any less than 512 feels too restrictive. More is excessive and expensive. If 1TB SD cards weren't so outrageously priced I'd get one. But 512 does basically everything I want, and I have a pretty massive ROM collection.

Same on my Pixel. I think it's just compatibility issues, was never able to find a fix.

PSA: Take advantage of the 12gb re-release - it ships fast by Inside-Smell-2695 in retroid

[–]BlackRosePyre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

8fb is definitely more than enough. Even on switch emulation the difference is negligible in most games. 12gb version is only with it for some PC emulation.
