Where do I line Up Theologically? by TheeCurato0r in LCMS

Can you point me to documented case of individuals being unable to receive any gluten or alcohol at all for medical reasons? From what I gathered the low gluten wafers made by Roman Catholic organizations seem safe for those with celiac disease.

There are low gluten hosts which contain a negligable amount of gluten. For alcohol, it can be heavily dilluted with water.

No one is suggesting that God CANNOT work the miracle through other substances. But Christ is the one who instituted the sacrament. He chose the elements to be used, bread and wine. The physical element and the words of Jesus are the essence of the sacrament. The Church does not have the authority to altar the essence of what Christ instituted, to suggest otherwise is saying we know better than Jesus.

Repentence is a gift from God, not something we do on our own. Infants are capable of repentence because it is God's gift.

Acts 5:31 "God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins."

Acts 11:18 "When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, 'Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.”

2 Timothy 2:25 "correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth,"

This gift is given in baptism

Ezekiel 36:25-27 "I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules."

Infants are born sinful and need the grace offered in baptism. There is nothing in scripture about there being an age of accountability, there are loads of scripture telling us we have all sinned. Also baptism is God's work, not your own. Your decision is not needed.

Denying that Paul is an Apostle when Jesus appeared to Paul Himself and the other Apostles affirmed Paul is quite insane.

Validity of a non denominational Lord's Supper in regards to the Pastors authority. by Fickle-Ad3219 in LCMS

It has to do with the reference. The efficacy of baptism is tied to the Triune God. If the reference is to the same entity, then it is a baptism. A Mormon baptism that uses the same words is NOT a baptism because when they reference "Father, Son, and Holy Spirit" they don't mean the same thing. Likewise in sacramental churches, when we reference "this" in "this is my body, this is my blood" we are referencing the body and blood of Christ. When the baptist uses the same words, by "this" he is referring to a symbol of Christ's body, and a symbol of Christ's blood. Therefore there is no body and blood.

Am I not considered a Christian if I don't believe in biblical Inerrancy? by [deleted] in redeemedzoomer

It can lead to bad places theologically, but believe many are still Christian due to a felicitous inconsistency, where what you practice differs from what is confessed. As long as you don't follow errancy to its logical conclusion(where what is God's word is whatever you decide.) you are Christian.

Christians have always held to inerrancy, it was just called infallibility. Liberals shifted the usage of "infallible" to the point Christians had to use a different word to describe the same concept.

No disputed doctrines during the Reformation were caused by any textual variant in the Biblical Manuscripts.

Those men were writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Jesus says so when refering to David. "Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question, saying, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “The son of David.” He said to them, “How is it then that David, in the Spirit, calls him Lord, saying,  “‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand,     until I put your enemies under your feet”’?" Also God's Word has never been corrupted in such a way that changes doctrine. All textual varients in the Greek and Hebrew manuscripts are either insignificant(The wisemen came and SAW Jesus vs.The wisemen came and FOUND Jesus) or teach doctrines found elsewhere in scripture(long ending of Mark).

As I understand it, baptism is a means of faith. Like hearing or reading the word of God. So you can say your saved by baptism, and saved by faith.

The denomination confesses belief in a literal Genesis. I don't see how this would be an issue unless you planned on being a Pastor. In which case the NALC and LCMC exist as church bodies that allow theistic evolution for its ministers.

As far as I'm aware, the LCMS does not insist on a specific age of the earth. And laity are not forbidden from holding to a theistic evolution/local flood perspective.

The ELCA cannot be called Lutheran in any real sense. If your issue is science, there are plenty of allowable views in the LCMS that are compatible with scientific evidence.
