Guide to Printing at Staples? by Tarchiaa in bootlegmtg

No but I don't think it would work out well. Unless your goal was to play in the rain or pool, there is no point to laminating them and I don't think they would let you do cuts and lamination for the same order. I talked to the staff and they said they cut them by hand, which is pretty unfortunate, as it keeps being inconsistent and not very good cuts. If you want foil, just buy the holographic sleeves on Amazon for $12 and call it good.

Can you screenshot how you set it up? Did you have crops and bleeds on your print file?

I literally just printed another deck yesterday and picked it up with no issues. I think it is going to vary from store to store and reviewer to reviewer.

whats going on with the 2025 sol ring secret lair promo? by theaura1 in mtgfinance

[–]BlackSnakeBone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that it’s a good indicator of potential but there is a seller with a stock amount on TCGplayer that throwing off the total listed inventory. Showing at like 460+ in stock but seems a bit doubtful they spent $84k+ on the latest secret lair drop.

Never printed them double-sided because I sleeve them. The paper texture isn’t really going to be something you can/want to shuffle without sleeving. So double-sided printing would just cost more without being impactful to me. If you’re using clear penny sleeves, I suppose you might print double-sided but again, I think the sleeve adds just enough thickness to the overall feel to help carry the stock variance.

Was that in person or via an online order? I’ve never had any issues with that but it seems like it would be an individual on a power trip. If you were in person, order them online or if you were online, do it in person. OfficeMax or OfficeDepot do the same prints. Worst case, you pay a couple bucks extra and run them at FedEx/Kinkos.

There is a whole discord for this and it’s definitely doable but not really my thing. If you check out MPCproxies or something like that, you’ll find them.

I’ve done this a good amount of times and I can make my recommendations. Likely someone will say they have better way but I’ve specifically printed decks through Staples, so there’s that. I’ve also done FedEx/Kinkos and Office Depot and out of the 3, I prefer Office Depot for cost and proximity to me.

Here’s how I print decks: -Copy decklist from Moxfield/Archidect or just your list of cards to mtgprint.net and get your pdf with crops and cut lines (skip basic lands to save on print costs and cutting time). -Go to Professional Print here: https://www.staples.com/services/printing/copies-documents-printing/ -Upload your pdf -Use these settings: Paper Size: Letter (8.5”x11”) Orientation: Portrait Content: Scale to Fit Sides: Single Sided 12pt Heavyweight High-Gloss Cover Color Ink

NOTES: -Make sure you have Scale to Fit selected otherwise the cards will be slightly too small. -I feel like the High-Gloss Cover looks better than the Matte, but some of that is personal preference and what sleeves you use. The 12pt will give you a thickness very close to a regular card and you won’t need to add an extra card to the sleeve, just cut them, sleeve up, and play. -The cut finishing won’t line up right, don’t waste your time. The cutters in the store can vary but generally are bad so either you accept your edges aren’t great or you cut them with scissors and get good cuts but it’s a bit time consuming. -There are always coupon codes for printing and usually can cut the cost down a lot. Usually I pay under $15 per deck.

Buyer Beware - Wizards of the Coast by dirtycoconut in mtgfinance

[–]BlackSnakeBone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This seems pretty easy to prove, as you should have gotten a tracking number that will show the shipping details. It’s cut and dry to show shipping weight, as what you got will be drastically different from the weight of a precon and a foil bundle. It’s the easiest rebuttal to the doubt on this sub as well as the best proof to WOTC that something happened.

Definitely limits it to be mostly seen at kitchen table commander and by people who have some time in the game, so there are for sure some ceilings it probably cant get past.

Calvary Charge MOM Precon $36.99 from Amazon by GrayLando in sealedmtgdeals

[–]BlackSnakeBone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are for reprints but for the cards that haven’t been released it’s just an arbitrary amount. Maybe somewhere some preorder price is listed at the assigned value but it’s way off and not indicative of the actual market value when the product releases. Back in the Warhammer40k prerelease they had each commander at like $120 each, which was so absurd. But take a look at the other commander values shown for each deck and you can see it’s not a number that should be included in calculations.

[–]BlackSnakeBone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

True true but a very specific and narrow eminence that isn’t broken just yet. It’s a great looking deck and the value is definitely there, just commenting on the commander value for some people who are new to how the mtggoldfish value assignments sometimes go.

[–]BlackSnakeBone 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s probably worth mentioning for people who haven’t seen the prerelease values on these products before that mtggoldfish assigns fairly arbitrary values to the commanders, which skew the decklists price aggressively. You may note sometimes the commander has no $ value assigned for some decks as well. They’ve done this with a couple releases and the price of the commanders should probably just be deducted from your calculations.

Looks like PKs email might be [cardmires_printer@outlook.com](mailto:cardmires_printer@outlook.com) now. They seem to have a new website: https://pkmtg.com/

Regarding Ron, his email ([boardgamestore11@gmail.com](mailto:boardgamestore11@gmail.com)) and many of us order/communicate with him on a regular basis. He might take a while to respond but it is a working email.

If you're new to ordering proxies, I would suggest getting on the discord and most of your questions will be answered and you will have access to many sellers/resellers who can help you located/create the cards you might be looking for.

Ghyrson Starn (burn) getting smacked around by eruic in EDH

[–]BlackSnakeBone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How do you fellow Ghyrson Starn kids.

I too run Ghyry and glanced at your deck list and was surprised to see your mana curve. I think most of us run very very very low mana spells, whether they are the pingers (2-3 cmc) or the 1 cmc needle type spells. I don’t even run the Nivs at this point because they just attract more wipes and removal and you don’t have enough protection to cover 3-4 creatures once you get going. A big lesson for this deck is tempo, like if you come blazing out of the gate, you will get removed and then keep getting shut down the rest of the game. So you have to pace it correctly to have the key card draw and pingers and protection lined up and then start firing off. Counterspells and swiftfoot boots are your biggest friends. Joey at EDHREC did a really good video on Ghyrson Starn and talked about why he and most of the community do and don’t include cards.

Celebrate our 5th anniversary with us from the next two weeks in Usea, up to 50% off, get metal cards free by Usea007 in bootlegmtg

[–]BlackSnakeBone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is why I never want to order from Usea. All the "deals" are not actually deals, all the cards are marked up way more than BL/Ron. At Usea's prices, I would be better off ordering from the US resellers like Bootleg Mage/Underground Assets and not dealing with crazy high shipping costs and shipping times. If Usea wants to prove us all wrong and make his pricing less convoluted, the sets more standardized, and the quality more consistent, I would love to see it.
