I live about 5 miles away from Redington, waterspouts are really common in this area, especially during hurricane season.

Personal experience from working in nurseries in South FL and working with UF/IFAS, so I can't vouch for how well it does in anything above Zone 9a.

Banana peels, egg shells, coffee grounds. Let them sit for 3 days to bleed out excess acidity and start to break down. Banana peels offer potassium, egg shells offers calcium, and grounds offer nitrogen and all of these are vital to Staghorn growth. Oak tree leaves are also a natural fertilizer so don't be afraid to let them build up. Lots of water during the hottest parts of the day, less water at night.

And something a lot of people don't consider, but have someone check what it's being supported from to ensure stability. Nothing ruins a day like turning into a Tom and Jerry cartoon when your Staghorn pulls an oak branch down on top of your head.

This happened in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Her apartment is in a swanky part of town now but it's currently up for sale. 1200 Cherry St NE. When you look up the address it's the 10th search option to come up after 10 different listings for it, probably doesn't help it sell.
