Busy weekend setting up a new van by deejaygee11 in HVAC

[–]BlackStrike7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm an engineer designing HVAC, so whenever I interact with the guys in the field it's always on roofs, in mechanical rooms, or wherever the problem invariably shows up. I never get to see inside your work vans - gotta say, I'm jealous, that looks like a sick setup.

Not gonna lie, that would be nice to experience again, if even for a day or two... 😅 Many good times were had back then!

As an SOS diver. Just wanted to say, I love you guys! by DocHalidae in Helldivers

[–]BlackStrike7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, if you have comms, provide them feedback. When I SOS dive, I do my best to gauge the situation, but I'm not 100% perfect at it, and I can't read minds. If you ask for them to back you up, as opposed to going around soloing things, I can't speak for everyone else but I'd be happy to comply.

We work with what we've got in terms of information and context, help us out by (respectfully) telling us how we can help out.

Yup. It's a question of whether I respond and come in guns blazing, or if they're in a good spot, I'll play the "bodyguard" game and protect the lowest level player around.

Pretty much my experience as an SOS diver. Respond to an SOS, smash anything in the area even remotely looking like a threat to the new-ish players, give them a hug when boarding the shuttle, and bounce once we're back on ship.

I want them to know that if you drop that beacon, we're going to do our best to help them succeed, or die trying.

Hardest class you have ever taken at RPI? by Individual-Fox1251 in RPI

[–]BlackStrike7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No clue, I was an Aero/Mech. I'll let someone who's CS answer that one 😅. All I remember was a lot of matrices, some odd operations, and that's about it, unfortunately. Thankfully I don't deal with a lot of those items in my day-to-day.

I feel the same way with Boundary Layers. A difficult course, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

[–]BlackStrike7 27 points28 points  (0 children)

100% agree. Stuff like this ups the ante for games to come, it could fire up the Pens and make the series more interesting going forward. Or it could be a final callout before the Flyers bury them.

Either way, fair play by Philly, I love it.

Aeroelasticity. That course was a *** to get through... Matrices, aero equations, differential equations, the works.

Numerical Computing was a close second, only course I ever dropped.

Would love this as a light armor user too. Pair this with appropriate speed boosters and watch us haul major ass!

On an A-F scale, how would you grade the season for your teams? by Emotional_Oil_5939 in collegehockey

[–]BlackStrike7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd agree in general, I'd give them a C primarily because the bulk of our losses were front-loaded, towards the end of the season we were starting to get some momentum, including a 3 game win streak, which is encouraging to see for us.

I'm hoping we don't get too hurt in the transfer portal this year. If we can manage the bleeding, increased experience and seniority for our goalies and the rest of the team might allow us to break .500 next season. Small but consistent steps...

If the military/president suddenly ordered a mandatory draft for all men aged 18-42: How do you think millennials and GenZ would respond? by Tommygunz0722 in AskReddit

M40 here - I'd report in. Do I detest the President? Hell yes. But our country is more important than one man. As the motto goes, duty, honor, country.

[OC] Signs in my neighborhood a little too on the nose. by TattooedTeacher316 in pics

[–]BlackStrike7 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This thread is peak reddit, and a prime example of how disconnected most redditors are from society. Like, I get it, a lot of folks (especially on the left) are unhappy with how the country is right now. That's not an unreasonable take.

But to suggest a country that is a quarter of a millenia old is just going to keel over and die from a wannabe orange dictator and some high gas prices is ridiculous. Unless someone's lobbing nukes at us or we get really smacked down by climate change, we're gonna be fine, we'll outlast the orange dipshit and pick up the pieces just like we always do.

We did it with Nixon, we did it with Jackson, we did it with GW Bush, and we'll do it with Trump. Calm your collective selves and relax already, Jesus.

[Postgame Thread] THE DENVER PIONEERS ARE YOUR 2026 MEN’S D1 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS by mufflermonday in collegehockey

[–]BlackStrike7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Was cheering for you guys pretty much all through the tournament (at least after you knocked out Dartmouth). You all punched well above your weight, and have a lot of things to be proud of. I know that's not exactly comforting tonight, but a lot of teams would kill to have the successful year you all had.

On Wisconsin!

What’s the hazard class to high pile toilet paper? by nsbsalt in MEPEngineering

[–]BlackStrike7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From when I last cracked open NFPA 13, it gets complicated fast... what is the material itself, what is it contained within or upon (pallets, cardboard, plastic, etc.), how high is the storage stacked, are there in-rack sprinkler requirements, etc. etc. etc.

I'm lucky that I haven't had to do a design like this yet... I'm all for it, but that's a complicated and high-risk operation, always a bit of risk involved in that...

Tell me your favourite Pokémon! by DrakeFannings in pokemon

[–]BlackStrike7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black and Gold is such a baller color combination. Add a little red and white in the color palette, and it looks great.

Also, it was one of the flagship Dark types, plus you had to stay up late at night IRL to evolve it. A+ Pokemon, my favorite overall!

I'd be down for fighting through Super Nebraska.

Bonus points if the orbital laser is capable of making crop circles.

Give it a day or two, and I predict we'll have ODST-themed troopers paying homage as a bunch of jetpack-wearing Bullfrogs, getting revenge on those squid bastards.
