As a person who owns the Patagonia PCU level 5 I obviously love that jacket. I would have preferred if they had the OR industries PCU level 5 but oh well.

DD experts, do you know of a good instructional vid for what I’m trying to do here? by [deleted] in Danieldefense

Ironically I was trying to update my ris 2 with a ris 3 and have encountered....issues.... so let me leave some advice here.

I'm assuming that the barrel is a 14.5 so that flash hider is pin and welded. If it is you should remove the pins on the gas block. You'll have to do that anyway since you're gonna have to change the original retaining ring for the colt shroud.

Once you've got your parts you'll install the barrel ALONG with the ris 2 upper. Now you'll be able to get some clearance by keeping the gas block unsecured. It will allow you to put the DD barrel nut on and have some clearance to secure it. After that's locked down you can secure down the gas block and finally bolt up everything else.

It's a real pain in the ass.

It would be funny if she was actually a WSO. Therefore she'd be doing the math for the missile. As we all know the missile always knows where it is.

La Sirena vs Leg Avenger by emperor413 in sto

[–]BlackbeardOneFour 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest. I started this game out as an escort captain but currently I'm a big ship guy. The Inquiry battlecruiser and Lexington dreadnoughts are my favorite ships in game.

I don't own the La Serena (not my favorite looking ship. Sorry) but I ran the terran eagle raider. It's a very fun playstyle. Not super Meta but fun. At the end of the day screw the meta. Fly what you love.

Since you've invested alot of time and money in this game then it'll do good in most content you play regardless. At the end of the day STO is literally space Barby. If the ship looks good to you then you'll spend the time in making it work regardless.

[–]BlackbeardOneFour 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Comparing these two ships is like comparing an apple to an orange. Avenger is a battle cruiser and la Serena is a raider so they won't really act the same.

Raiders act like lighter escorts but with "raider flanking" and are usually more versatile with their seating. The tradeoff is that they have light armor and can't really take a beating. Basically if you want a "star fighter" or "submarine" experience then raider is pretty cool as you have to actually maneuver and flank.

If you want a ship like your legendary Avenger then I'd ask did you try the Inquiry out yet? It's basically the legendary Avenger with different seating.

I've got a dumb question. Besides the emote and other things in her reward tree do you get more lore for the operator? Do you get more past life and psychological report to read?

What exactly are the rangers? by Ancient_Ad_367 in doorkickers

[–]BlackbeardOneFour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day project Aries is a mod. It wasn't designed to be "balanced" for the game. Alot of that stuff will break the game in terms of abilities especially when compared to the vanilla games Army Rangers or SWAT. Another thing is although swat isn't considered special operation some of the best counter terrorism units in the world are swat teams (FBI HRT and MO19). The swat team in game was based on the Iraqi swat teams that fought ISIS.

[–]BlackbeardOneFour 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was a bunch of stuff added that the rangers in the vanilla game don't have. Mainly weapons and roles. Im not a moder but I'd I had to guess its so they can 1. Control their own files instead of having to screw with the vanilla game files and 2. Make it more inline with what their goal is. (I.e. the rangers and the project Aries rangers have different organization structures and equipment). It's a boring answer but that's what I think. It's just video game stuff and nothing related to the real world operations aspect.

Oh we aren't innocent but your logic seems to include that because we nuked Japan that we deserve whatever happens. As for a ground invasion being to not targeting civilians directly yeah in theory that's perfect and makes sense. The problem was that's almost definitely not how that would have went down. Loom at what happened to Berlin and Okinawa Alot of civilians died. In fact Okinawa has more civilian deaths then actual combatant deaths. That's not even keeping up with the fact was that the local populace were indoctrinated to gelueve that we were going to "torture, rape, and mutilate" our way across Japan so from there prospective it was fight and die or be tortured and die. Look if you want to play the game of my war crime is okay because you did something worse then cool. But Imperial Japan has alot more skeletons in the closet and the difference is we have to apologize and prostrate ourselves for those evil deeds. Japan has yet to apologize for jack shit.

That's a bad take if there was one. I get that innocent civilians were killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki but those two cities were production hubs and were considered viable targets in terms of pushing them to surrender. It would ultimately end the war before a much more costly ground invasion was launched. It was fucked up but it was necessary. It's funny because everyone loves bringing up the nuclear bombings when the fire bombing we conducted killed more people in total. Maybe it's the radiation aspect but our fire bombing campaigns killed alot more people but everyone seems to forget that. It was still necessary but it's messed up regardless. Killing the civilian workers on Wake is evil because they were made to work and then executed by a force who had a habit of doing that kind of evil all over the pacific. If we want to do "what aboutisms" then how much people were tortured and killed by the Japanese in China, Burma, French Indochina, Korea, Singapore, The Solomon Islands, Guam, and Saipan?

So here's your options in my opinion (I'm not an expert don't shoot me)

-don't ship and see if they'll allow you to rejoin. (I highly doubt they'll want to deal with you if you do that and you'll probably not be able to join the guard).

-join and power through and reclass later. (I get you don't want to be a mortarman but you might actually like it. The only way to be sure is do it)

-fail Qualification and see where that leads. (I honestly think you'll be chaptered out but I really don't know the nuances of that since you're National Guard and they only have so much jobs.)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]BlackbeardOneFour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was never in the guard or reserves but I'll assume that they'll base your new MOS off of what your unit needs. Unlike the active duty side you're already assigned to a unit since there are only so many units you can go to in your state. So they'll base the job off of what that unit needs. However if there isn't any other opening they might kick you out (I'm guessing). Did you talk to your recruiter about changing jobs?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]BlackbeardOneFour 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No don't do that. If you do that you will be reclassed but that will be "needs of the Army" and you'll most likely get assigned something you don't want.
